My choice was so simple even I could figure it out... I could either get help, or die.

I am just a little puzzled. Like most, I read the news article. I also read that he posted bail of $18K.
He was chased through three states and they "supposedly" found drugs yet his bail was only $18K? This just doesn't seem to gel too well. I'm wondering if that "mystery bag" might have held his hair equipment and not drugs???

It's easy for me to say how selfish drugs are... I chose not to take them & they didn't ruin my life. I understand alcohol all too well & have paid the price myself... I had my wake up call & wish I could tell you that I 100% changed but that isn't true. You think you figured it out each time you make the mistakes... you think you can get away with it next time because you won't do the same thing again. Well... you do different stupid things each time fighting addiction when you really don't want to get better.
He has always been talented & has always needed a good kick in the butt IMHO. It's one thing to beat to your own drum, be an individual that doesn't try to blend in & I would have thought he learned his lessons. Apparently not.
I honestly don't feel sad for his family no matter how bad that may sound. I wish them strength to make some tough choices that obviously need to be made. Throwing more money at him, telling him its alright & that he's special... it hasn't worked from an outsider's perspective. I don't know what all they've done. Some people simply can't learn & are so selfish & ill that they can't change.
I never did drugs because I didn't want to disappoint my family, didn't want to die & have them blame themselves, have them pay the price for my own selfish escapes. It's tough to understand what, if anything, goes on in Tyler's mind. He had so many chances & blew it. A lot of us have had chances & blew it but not quite on the same public stage in front of people across the country. The sad part is how much money people wasted on him for so long when he wasn't a good bet. He didn't respect opportunities and good racing people around him enough to find a way to stay clean. His life... not mine. His cross to bear... not mine. Hopefully his story makes a difference to some young drivers that see what NOT to do.

You're really an Idiot for saying that I have never really liked tyler (timothy) and, I have said that on here many of times...
It really is sad on the same token. I have never really liked him but, you can see where the destructive path of drugs has taken him while I do wish him well and get out of this deal the right way, I don't think it's quite over for him.. I wish this battle for him the best of luck.
Hammerdown!

Tough deal. I've been a fan of Tyler's for a long time. It's a shame when this kind of stuff happens. Hopefully he gets the help that he needs and can recover from this. I really hope that he doesn't go out and do something stupid while he is out on bond.
This might not be the best comparison, but I can't help but want to compare Tyler to Tim Richmond. Both immensely talented but couldn't control the partying habits. It cost Richmond his life. Hopefully the same doesn't happen to Tyler. That would really be a sad deal.

I wonder if this is finally rock bottom for him to realize that he needs to turn his life around. No one with addiction can really start the change until that happens. I'm sure that he has known that he has had a problem and has tried to change on many occassions but for whatever reason addiction seems to get the best of you until you realize that if you continue down that path you will either end up with no one in your life to assoicate with except a brick prison wall, or 6 feet under a headstone.
