So my seat number was picked at this years Chili bowl....I won 2 tickets to each night of the SHORT TRACK NATS.....I personally have never been but has been on my very short list of tracks never attended. For those who have been give me the skinny on this event...where to sit ,,,hotels ...party places..taverns....blah blah vlah...as always HUMPIN 2 PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

I get my hotel through Priceline and have gotten good deals at the Hilton and Marriott. When I used to sit in the stands, I liked T1. I don't party, so I can't help you there. Bring rain gear and plenty of warm clothes. You won't regret going....

We have a lurker on this forum (Glad Brad) a devout Sammy fan and also an Alderman in the City of Benton. If he checks in I am sure he can add to what Hwaker has mentioned. If you go you MUST go to Dorrey's Catfish Buffet. Glad Brad can give you directions. You won't regret it!!!
P.S. I wish I had your luck. The last time my "seat number" got picked I had a hemorrhoidectomy!

If it is at all this year like it was last year don't bring a rain coat, bring a boat! We could have used one!

Sounds like MY kind of race, don't ya think? We went a few years ago & had a good time. It was colder than hell & the guys in back of us had a propane tank & heater...IN THE STANDS!!!!!! The track tends to go away as they run soooo many laps on it. Not really sure if it's one I'd rush to go back to......got other places to see. Maybe someone on here can tell us if the bar right beside the track is still there? We heard it burned down. That was a great place! The Mrs. & I went in there for lunch & didn't leave until almost 4!! We stayed at the Days Inn, just up the road & it wasn't a bad place. Hump, did you tell Sweeton to draw your seat # because you didn't win at the BB Tourney? Figures......He'd do that for you.....for me, he'd get me tix for the TALL Ntls!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're lucky you won tickets to such an awesome event. I've went years past and last year and it was awesome. It's nothing but sprint cars which I love. Last year on Friday the place was a pond but they worked hard on everything and ended up getting the show in. It was cold but not as cold as years past. We always stay at La Quinta Inn Otter Creek which is like 2 miles from the track, reasonable prices and nice rooms. We will once again be going this year and I can't wait! Haven't made it to the bar thats right outside the track in the parking area but I plan to this year. As far as sitting we usually sit in the stands right passed the flag stand and thy're great seats. some people set in the turn and well those rickety ol bleachers there kinda make me leery to set there. But you will love it and will want to go back... its something everyone should go see in their lifetime..

Ouch Stubb! I didn't even know they had a drawing so I can't say I was involved. Glad to see Hump win though and you get to stay on the trailer! And to think that I wore your hat all day and night Friday just to get some pix for you. Will remember that next year.
We went a couple of times when I was working for Brown but we were busy working on cars and can't give any advice on places to stay or go, sorry Hump. Do want to back up the take warm clothes part because it was really cold.

Haaaaaa no it wasnt Sweeton it was Bockhovan an Randy that did the give away...the cold isnt really a factor for me being its 8 below here today an Im working in it!.Hows GAIL ? Hope she is better. I think we will make the trip and give it a go....thanks Guys

HAHAHA!! Damn Mike, I didn't even know they had a TALL Ntls!! Don't worry mate, if ya wear that hat out, I've got another one for ya!!! I gotta see some pix! Hey you guys, thanx for checking in on the Mrs. She's gettin around a bit better, on the crutches, but can't put any weight on the leg. She just uses it for balance. Hopefully we'll get some good news when she sees the doc in a few weeks. Oh, Hump....fergot to tell ya, unless they've made improvements, watch where ya take a leak in the men's room. The troughs drain towards the middle & it leaks there!!! Petey & I laughed our asses off when this guy walked in & didn't want to wait & he took that spot......it was going all over his feet as fast as it was going out of him & everybody else!!!!!! It was funnier than hell.
