Larson Scores Seventh at Placerville Fourth of July Special

Placerville, CA – July 4, 2007.  Rebounding from the disappointment of only being able to race one lap in the main event due to mechanical issues in his last event four days previous at Tulare’s Thunderbowl Raceway, Kyle Larson was able to secure another top ten finish as Placerville Speedway held it’s annual Fourth of July race complete with a fireworks extravaganza following.  Larson’s run was another charge forward from the back half of the field, as he came from 15th starting to finish seventh, trailing only the top six drivers in points at the foothill bullring.

With his 16th quick qualifying time of the 26 cars assembled, Larson started on the pole in heat number one.  Larson grabbed the lead at the start in the Dave and Debbie Vertullo ParkerStore/CRV Racing Products/Eagle Kistler and drove to a convincing win, transferring into the feature event.  The run forward in the 25 lap A-main for the 14 year old Elk Grove, California resident was aided by only three scattered yellows flag period.  Larson was able to gather momentum over stretches of several laps and was able to pass high and low on the very slick surface as he gained on the lead pack, finally running out of time to improve on seventh at the finish.

“I wish the race was longer,” said Larson. “Or that we could have had a yellow there towards the end.  I felt like I was getting on a roll.  The track was real slick, but my car seemed to be getting better as the race went on.  Dave Vertullo, with some tips from Brad Sweet, tightened the car up for the main and it really made my job easier having the car that good.”

Larson will be at Marysville Raceway Park on July 7 for the 360 Civil War Series as round number seven of the 15 race pursuit for points is held.  Larson is eighth in the point standings just one point out of seventh and leads the rookie of the year chase over Mason Moore by 50 points.

Larson’s racing efforts are sponsored by ParkerStore, CRV Racing Products, Starr Real Estate and Property Management, Safety Solutions – LFT Technologies, D & J Towing, Heritage Drywall, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, RPM Indoor Kart Racing and Conference Center, Platinum Powdercoating, JW Web Design, Wion’s Body Shop, SWEPCO Lubricants and Sierra Tire and Wheel.
