A topic for discussion for you sprint car drivers here on tidbits message board and will post on oklahomatidbits on facebook as well:

Emmet has his ASCS 305's and there is also SST, the racesavors and OCRS. OCRS has a bulk of races at different Oklahoma tracks and yet I have noticed that SST is scheduled for Lawton Speedway and Elk City Speedway for 2013. There are 305's that will be scheduled for Route 66 Motor Sp
eedway in Amarillo but the date and series isn't scheduled yet.

What are you drivers opinion? Are the champ sprints, as we know it safe or is it time for tracks that run them make the switch over to the racesavor sprints? What direction is the market going do you think?

I know NCRA allows the racesavors so North Texas and Kansas has that covered. What are the differences, if any, between the racesavors and SST?

Devils Bowl and Kennedale are racing the racesavors weekly in 2013 and I think RPM is as well.

Just trying to get a decent conversation started to see what the general consensus is.

Thank you in advance.

The 305's are DOA. too many different rules and way to much cheating going on to get back under control.

I hope they don't try and run off the 360 carb cars. They already ran off the injected cars from Oklahoma and Kansas. 81 is the only track in this area that has a weekly class.

David, there`s several of us that have 2bl cars that are watching the 305 deal closely. I think it could be very cool but another poster made a good point that there are suddenly to many different sanctioning bodies with slightly varying rules that don`t coexist with each other. The ascs 305 deal sounded great but like the ecotech deal it seems to have been dropped in the mud. Would love to run with them at Elk City, will be curious to see if they would allow a 2bl car to compete.

A SST 305 Sprint will not compete with a 2bl.

The 2 barrels have quite a bit more power than the 305 motors. I know when we went to Kilgore and tried out ours, u have to really keep up your momentum, any loss of that and it kills your corner speed. Takes some getting used too. I think it would be a fun class to race tho. There were quite a few down there.

I'm waiting for the iron head, injected 360 with 16 ft wing and 13" RR McCreary D3B to come back (joke). Last seen at 81 about 1993 with 30 cars for Sat nite racing. Don't forget the $800 engine claim. Don't think there's much chance of affordable sprint car racing any time soon. My biggest complaint is the 25 ft wings with tires that last one race. Can't afford the tire bill any more. Why is it that everyone in racing (car and engine builders, race tracks, tire mfg, sponsors) has to make money to keep the sport going but not car owners? I guess that's why there were only 6 sprints at 81 the last time I went.

I think the deal Schatz introduced always should have been meant to overtake 360's. Still think it should. No 410 heavy place like PA, Knox, Cali will every go with Schatz's deal..... So really it was the 360's for it take over. And it would be a lot cheaper, and yet still faster lol. 305's..........thought it would be a good idea especially the Racesaver deal...but certain bad apples might mess it up. oh well. Hope for the best, can't wait for mini sprint racing at I-44 Riverside and Port City Raceway Smile
