Port-A-Cool Texas World Dirt Track Championship Registration Open!

Coming off an extremely exciting and successful U.S. National Dirt Track Championship event this past September, Texas Motor Speedway officials are proud to kick off their 2013 dirt racing calendar with the Port-A-Cool® Texas World Dirt Track Championship to be held March 1-2, 2013.

And today at http://www.darinshort.com/world.html online event registration has now opened.

At this special registration site, there is a link for each race division to preregister their team, purchase advance 2-day pit passes (saves $10), reserve a paved pit space (while supplies last) and sign up for practice night. Each of the racing divisions (SUPR Late Models, Modifieds and Limited Modifieds) can save $40/each on their entry by getting registered between now and February 15th. After that date ‘race week’ pricing will be in effect. Car numbers are assigned on a first-come basis, so if there is a number you want, it would be a good idea to register as soon as possible for the best chance of getting it.

More importantly, for Modified and Limited Modified drivers, TMS will add two provisional starters to their Championship features – but they will be drawn from pre-entered drivers only, so don't miss out on this second chance! To be considered an “Early Entered Driver” your entry must be received (online or postmarked) by February 15th, 2013. The Modified event pays $3,000 to win and $750 to start; while the Limited Modified event pays $2,000 to win and $400 to start.

There are 120 paved, reserved parking spaces available for this event. Once those spaces have been reserved, all other teams will be parked by TMS officials upon their arrival at the speedway. Purchase them while supplies last on the event website.

Teams can pay using any major credit or debit card and all transactions are secured through PayPal, an eBay company that has soared to over 117 million active accounts. You do not have to be a PayPal member to use this service.

Teams can make multiple purchases on the registration section within the same transaction, which will save time and typing. When you are on the registration page, continue to select ‘add to cart’ items until you are finished and a separate window will contain the items you have selected. You can also edit the invoice before you make your final purchase.

If you would prefer to enter by mail, there is an event brochure at the above link that you can print, fill out and mail in your payment. For those not familiar with the TMS layout, there is also a link to a map of the property.

Race fans can purchase grandstand tickets to this great weekend of racing for just $10 on Friday and $20 on Saturday. Kids 12 and under will be admitted for $5 on Friday and $10 on Saturday. Tickets will be available at http://www.TexasMotorSpeedway.com beginning January 7th. There is no charge for grandstand parking. Outside food/drinks are not allowed through the ticket gates. Grandstands open at 4 pm nightly. Hot laps are 5pm on Friday and races are at 6pm Friday and Saturday. There is also a practice night scheduled in Thursday February 28th at 6pm, however the main grandstand area is closed.

So if you are planning on racing the event and your rig needs a premium spot in the paved area, it is highly recommended you purchase one as soon as possible before they are all committed by other teams.

Although the mail-in 'Early Entry' date has now passed, online 'Early Entry' to the March 1st and 2nd Port-A-Cool® Texas World Dirt Track Championship at Texas Motor Speedway's Dirt Track is open through Monday, February 18th.

Everything is all set for an exciting weekend of racing at the Port-A-Cool® Texas World Dirt Track Championship at Texas Motor Speedway's Dirt Track!

Modifieds and Limited Modifieds run a complete program heat races and qualifying features on Friday, along with hot laps for the SUPR Late Model Series.

Saturday will crown Champions in all three of the race divisions. A complete program of SUPR Late models (Heats, B's and A) plus Last Chance races for the Modifieds & Limited Modifieds and their Championship features will make for another action packed night of racing.

Right now the weather forecast shows dry for the the entire weekend with highs in the 50's; so dress accordingly.

It is TMS's policy to not release the entry list ahead of race day, but I can tell you that a great field of drivers from across the region are already entered.

And Modified aficionados will especially enjoy one particular Late Model entry. (That driver is also racing double duty in the Modifieds.)

Drivers not yet entered can do so upon arrival to the speedway this weekend. There is plenty of parking available in the grassy overflow pit area that borders the paved pits. And with a dry forecast, it should be very suitable for parking big rigs.
