It's winter and need some racing topic entertainment. I was considering, if the NSCHoF had a mural done of it's racers, what car/sponsor/era would you chose as representing the most recognizable or influential of that drivers career. Lets start with The King Steve Kinser. No right or wrong answers, just opinions.
I'd have to have one done in the Valvoline car of the early 90's. Sprint Car racing seemed to really hit its stride with national sponsors and coverage and Kinser was the King. He was as dominate as ever winning several Nationals by crazy margins. He was still with Karl, the best driver/mechanic combo ever, IMO. When I think of Steve Kinser this is the car that jumps into my head.
Let's do other drivers through the winter but what do you think of The Kings mural?

+1 I've always liked that car.
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

Sammy is one of the reasons I thought of this thread. So many different cars ,sponsors and eras. Nance, TMC, Channel Lock, Old Milwaukee, Big Game....I guess I'd like to see a 1n Nance car for Sammy since that was the car he was in when he really gained superstar status. Best looking Sammy car....the Old Milwaukee ride was as sharp as any but all were very cool.
Back to Steve Kinser. 2nd I'd have to vote for the Stanton11 non-wing from thye first few years of the Outlaws.

Respect your opinion. I would have to say it would have to be a green Quaker State car though. That is the car that comes to my mind when someone mentions his name.

I agree with you on Sammy in the 1n car, Kinser in the Stanton 11 (I loved when it had the big nerf bars on it!) I would also add Wolfgang in the speedway motors 4x (my favorite was the purple one), Danny Smith in the Gambler house car, or Haundenschild when he be came Haud in Hamshire's burgundy 63! But my winner would be Rick Ferkel in the Kears Speed Shop camel tan & orange 0!!!

Haud in the Elden 22 is a no-brainer. Most would probably choose Wolfie in the 29 Wiekert.
I'd agree with Dude in the Forbook 5. He had National wins or WoO titles in either the 83 or 20 and a great run with the Sonners 47 but when you think of Dude it's the 5 car.

I swear some of you people can't/won't read. What part of "let's do OTHER drivers throughout the winter" did you miss? He was asking about Kinser, and Kinser only.
That said, Steve Kinser in the Johnny Vance USAC car. One of the coolest memories of my youth was seeing Kinser show up late and take Vance's sprint car and champ car from last to first at Eldora. Kinser in the Trostle 20 winning his first Nationals in 1980 would be also be cool.
