"To bad you feel that way. Have you been to Fernley recently??? New CLAY on the surface has changed the track completely, and it's no longer a dry slick dust bowl. Tell me where in Cali do they have #1 no curfew, #2 no muffler rules, #3 tailgate parking above turns one-two, where you can bring in your own food, BBQ, and liquid refreshments, and #4 fire pits located throughout the facility, and they even provide the wood to burn! I'll tell you, NOWHERE! Being a Reno resident who has been traveling "over the hill" for the past two decades to attend and shoot sprint car races, i welcome the change! Dan and crew have done wonders with a flailing, withering and dying 410 series since he took control, and i have complete faith in what his future plans for the series are going to be. The Reno area has been starving for big-time racing, and i know a lot of people are very excited to see 410 racing in this area. Seems in my opinion that all of you Californians have had to much of a good thing, take it for granted, and bitch and moan about every little thing you can, instead of appreciating what you've got. Why don't you all come check out the revised and improved Fernley track, and then make your decision as to whether it's worth the drive or not. I think you will be surprised..............Troy"
Unfortunatly you're incorrect. The place is still a dump compared to 99% of the tracks in California that KWS went/goes to. They can claim to have put down as much clay as they want but the fact is its still a dry slick dust bowl. Heat along with the constantly blowing wind are two factors they can't control. KWS will be single file 'blue groove' by the last heat race. That combined with not a very strong racing fan base in the Reno/Sparks area and $16 to $20 a head to get it is gonna spell trouble by show #2.
and I know this because I live here

Hi Troy,
Even though it's a long way off from me the track sounds cool, and I like the old school atmosphere you described. So I decided I'd look it up and found the site easily enough. Anyway you need to let them know that if they have directions to their track, I can't find them. Even their email address up in the right hand corner top, looks like it's playing hide and seek..
Now they have a #$#@ load of info on this site http://fernley95aspeedway.com/ , but man, to not have good directions, especially if there hoping to draw fans from out of town and a email address where you can find it easily is a big oversight.
Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

Hey Kenny, Yeah you're right, they need to work on that aspect for sure. Gary and George are probably on it. I'll check in to it and see what's up. I still want to have that beer with you if i ever get back down to AZ.! It's kinda hard now that Manzy and the Copper World are gone though. Man i miss those days...........Troy

Well I do make it over to Cali for some non wing 410's, after all my roots are in Torrance and the CRA. I think I was over for about 6 nights of racing at Perris, not including Turkey night.
I guess were doing OK over here at Canyon, and it's fairly close to me, only 80 miles... Check it out..http://www.canyonspeedwaypark.com/schedule/ We have 4 other tracks now that Casa Grande has re-opened.

Hey Kenny, have you ever made it to the Vermeil classic at Calistoga? It's a pretty cool event, two days of wine tasting, beer drinking at the beer garden, an auction of some great racing memorabilia, autograph sessions with some of the most legendary drivers on the West coast, and of course wingless 410's on the half-mile! Not to mention that 'stoga is probably the most beautiful track in California, nestled right in the middle of the wine country. If you've never been, you need to check it out someday.

I do!.... I've wanted to sit in those stands for years, and maybe I'll make it one of these day's.. I've seen video of the Vermeil Classic and of course since it's non wing, that's the show I'd go to.

Reno Fernley has always been a track with POTENTIAL and as noted requires no cerfew and no sound nazi's. however, until proven otherwise it has a horrible surface that EATS tires, and gets extremley dusty. The main reason for the move of KWS to Nevada is because California tracks will not pay Simpsons demanded $2,000.00 increase annually. the opening of Stockton, Reno fernley and Rattlesnake give Simpson THEORETICALLY an alternative to Cali tracks.None of these tracks have any record of hosting a large show. West coast racing will be better for their addition if it works out but thats a long way away. We raced both nevada tracks and the facilities just arent up to the standards Cali fans are used to. Bathrooms are portable toilets, concessions are taco trucks, seating is almost non existant except for snake infested hillsides where you sit in your car. the pits are bolder strewn sage brush fields that cost us a big rig sidewall. there are very few hotel rooms within 30 miles and in the 10 or so times we raced there I never saw more than 150 people in the grandstands. there is constant blowing sand and once the sun goes down its colder than hell, To get to them you must cross a 7000 ft summit that has had chain control in july and august. If things continue as they are get used to names like winnemucka, Battle Mountain, eeley and lovelock. those can be leased cheaply also and I hear there are thousands of people lining up to see KWS there. Tahoe Carson couldn't make it for a reason and it wasn't too many eager fans....paul

The second sentence says enough for me to understand the move.
"The main reason for the move of KWS to Nevada is because California tracks will not pay Simpsons demanded $2,000.00 increase annually."
I'm waiting for the schedule to come out to pass judgement, not that my judgement means anything.

When was the last time monahan had a win let alone a top five, just a field filler
|
Who gives a shit when his last win was. That was not the question. He makes the tow so why wouldnt anyone else. He has more dedication than a lot of those guys. Making that tow week in and week out just to be a so called "field filler".

Well i know i would suck against the never was drivers maybe they will smarten up and put somebody in those cars that can compete for a top five or maybe a win it would be a better show instead of waiting to be the next caution. if i had any talent i would but i guess they are content running tail end charlie and spending all there money

That's the problem, he doesn't know what he's saying. Like i said to him in an earlier post, "do a little research before spewing nonsense out of your piehole". Obviously he hasn't heeded the advice..........

I've shared plenty of races with you and I've never known you to sit down.
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

When you come on here bad mouthing drivers and race tracks and in general most everything, what the hell do you expect?... So fine, if you can't take it or back up the negative posts you make, don't post.
By the way, I saw the post where you answered my question about how long you've been going to sprint car races before you deleted it, and it's really sad that if you've been going to the track that long, that you still don't get get.... The guy's that struggle the hardest at what ever level to put a Sprint Car out on the track are the heart and soul of our sport, and for you to talk smack about "field fillers" and such really pisses me off and shows me that you haven't learned shit!

Couldnt agree more with your post. He calls it "A little controversy"? No, its called complete disrespect to call someone who spends their hard earned money to race a "field filler" and a slap in their face for being the grass roots racer this sport needs and relies on. You are right Big, this guys does not get it at all, and we shouldn't tolerate posters who post in such a manner on here.
