I am looking for the easiest way to Tulsa for the Shootout and the Chili Bowl. I looked it up on Google Maps and wasn't sure if there was an easier way than what they gave me. I am coming from Knoxville, Iowa.

Where is your starting point? What directions were you given by google maps?

My wife would tell me to take this route to Tulsa

I'd spend $100 on a Garmin GPS and sit back and enjoy the ride. I always heard people talk trash about GPS's and say they didn't work right. I got 1 and use it constantly, even in areas I know because it can pretty much dead on tell me the time I will make it to the location by, which is nice when your meeting with someone but you don't know exactly how long it will take to get there. Put the address in and follow. It also helps cut down on the wifes opinions on how to get somewhere, I did say it helps, still doesn't eliminate with mine at least, she still sometimes try's to argue with the GPS directions. I just smile and ignore her and let the GPS get me there and listen to her say "Oh I guess this way does get us here, I still think that other way might have been a little faster though." What are ya gonna do?
There also great for finding food and gas station locations if your in a area you don't know. You just go to points of interest and hit food and it gives you all the restaurants in the area closest to farther. You can even narrow that down by the kind of food your looking for like pizza or mexican.

Once you get to Denver, take I-70 east into Kansas. You don't have to deal with the madness of I-25 between Denver & Colorado Springs, the traffic will KILL gas mpg. Also, I-40 through the Tx panhandle SUCKS.
Take I-70 into Kansas to I-135 South. Go south thru Wichita down into Oklahoma.
When you get to US 412 at the Enid/Stillwater-Tulsa exits, go east all the way into Tulsa on US 412..
Not sure of the mileage difference, but I've made the trip from OKC area to Denver enough to know way w/ the least amount of hassle.

My Garmin has helped me a ton! I got my dad's old one and have used it to travel all around to countless races and concerts in multiple states such as Missouri, Kansas and Nebraska (the touch screen recently crapped out on me after it being used since 08 or 09). Now I've got my sister's old one that is the same model and it still works great. One of the best items to have in a vehicle is a GPS, especially if you're a race fan that travels.

We usually go to either Detroit or Columbus & then catch a big bird, get off at the Tulsa airport & thn get a rental & then check in at the hotel & then go to the track......hope that helps! Probably won't make it this year, though.

The Chilibowl won't be the same with a year without Stubb and the Misses.

If you are coming from Knoxville, take the hwy (92 I think) out to I-35, then south to kansas city, then south on Hwy 71 to I-44 @ Joplin, then ride that on into tulsa.

And be sure and stop at the Hard Rock Casino, The Cherokee's desperately need the funds to pay for the latest 50 MIllion dollar expansion.
