I don't think so. I enjoyed watching the Lucas oil, rock star modifieds at that track .was some good racing. The price is right, the food was cheap and not a bad seat in the place.
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

Must have never raced there. Starting in the back of a fully inverted USRC main was just as if not more of a white knuckler than most dirt tracks. Had a lot of fun there in the 70's and early 80's. And those stock car guys sure knew how to put on an entertaining brawl.

Yes, great racing back in the USRC days. By far the best Midget pavement racing on the West Coast at the time. Russ, fully inverted is just a fond dream these days. Could just hear the whinning and sniveling from the racers if someone were to mention a full inversion now.

Scott, I think it hurts some drivers because they never really learn the art of passing.Whether from the infield or later behind the wheel, watching guys like Cook, Patton and McKnight dice their way through the field was amazing.

I cut my teeth on the San Diego Racing Association's Modified Sportsmen in Balboa Stadium in the late 50s and early 60s. Their heat races were fully inverted with the result that the main events were partially inverted with passing points. I remember great racing (it probably gets better in my mind with each passing year) on that little 1/4 mile flat dirt track!

I forgot about all of the brawls Russ. That was very entertaining when the Midgets were not on the track.

Fond dream, eh Scott? Guess you never heard of the Trophy Cup. Features are fully inverted. I believe inversion will be more standard in the future. After all racing is entertainment and an inverted field is definitely more exciting.

Trophy Cup is full inversion .but it is also 50 laps. If we could get away with a 12 car inversion now adays with 30 lap mains that would be awesome.

If I remember right CRA was full inversion of the 16 cars that transferred thru the heats & B main transfers started 17-20 until the mid 70's when we we went to 8 car inversion 9-20 straight up ?
Didn't Stan McElreath win the 70 CRA Championship without winning a main event ? mainly because he usually ran the B main & started in the back & accumulated a lotta passing points
Or I could be All Fouled Up LOLLLL !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure how CRA did it, but if I remember correctly with USRC if you ran the semi you didn"t get passing points in the main.
