FASTRAK Drivers SPOTLIGHT - #86 Lerona, West Virginia’s Brandon Riffe "The Speed-Freak"

December 14th 2012 FASTRAK PR **FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE**

Tell us about yourself.

I'm 25 years young, from the great state of West Virginia. I work full-time as a Diesel Mechanic for Mikie's Trucking. I'm also a DJ I travel a little bit of everywhere doing that in the off season. Also do competitive Bench Press competitions thru the winter as well. I’m pretty laid back and chill kind of g

uy (most of the time). Love traveling and being spontaneous. Also enjoy meeting new people and having fun with whatever i do whether it be racing work or just hanging out with friends!

How did you get into racing? How old were you? First car/class?

My Dad raced for many years and I always helped him and he turned over the wheel to me when i was 16 and I’ve been racing ever since. First car was a 1976 Chevy Camaro and I drove it in a class called Super Stock

What is your favorite racing memory?

Greatest memory would have to be when I raced super stock one of our friends that raced with me let my dad drive their car one weekend. We raced door to door for 8 out of the 10 laps in the heat race and never once touched each other def. the most fun I've ever had in a race car!

Greatest achievement in your racing career?

Greatest achievement other than winning my first race would have to be the fan base I've acquired over the last 4 years and all the new friends I've made! I have so many people that don’t give up on me or our team and stick with us even when we don’t run so great!

Any superstitions (peanuts not allowed in pits, etc)?

Not sure if it’s a superstition or not but we never ever take a dirty race car to the track lol.

What is the story behind running the number you choose?

My dad ran the #86 every year he raced and it just kind of stuck with me and ill def. have it for as long as I race my own cars!

What is the hardest part of racing?

Hardest part of racing is definitely having the money to be able to compete at this level! Parts, tires, gas aren't cheap by any means and it makes it extremely hard on a low budget racer like me to be able to travel and be competitive at the highest level! Sponsorships are ALWAYS welcome lol.

What got you involved with the FASTRAK Racing Series and what keeps you racing with the Series??

Got involved with FASTRAK because running super late was just getting out of control money wise! I continue to race with the FASTRAK series because it’s a lot more affordable and the competition is among the best in the country!

Tell us what you like most about your home track? What are some of your other favorite tracks & why do you like them so much? What’s the hardest track you’ve ever competed at?

What I liked about Princeton Speedway was that it was close to home and made it easy for family and friends to be able to come out and watch but now that its shut down I call Thunder Mountain Speedway the home track and the thing I like most about it are the FANS and people that come out and watch couldn't ask for much better! Beckley Speedway has definitely become a favorite track because it fits my style of driving which is flat out lol. The hardest track has to be Wythe Raceway it’s just huge and big momentum tracks just never have had any luck there.

What do you like to do when you are not racing?

I like being outdoors, traveling and seeing new places! Like to hunt and fish! But most of all I like being around my friends and enjoying life and living every day to the fullest!

People you’d like to thank & sponsors

First off I got to thank my Mom Dad Sister and Grandpa and all my family and friends for always being there to help out and for all their support in everything I do! Next I got to thank my FANS and The Speed-Freak Nation for all their support year round! I definitely have the best fans a racer could ask for!

Also I got to thank my sponsors and all the people that have helped me thru my career!

Quality Electric, Valley Performance, Graham Trucking, Decal Design, Dustin Edwards Trucking, Mikies Trucking, FASTRAK, Thunder Mountain Speedway, Beckley Motorsports Park, Team Flag2flag, Steve Galimore (Carb Guy) David "Chipper" James, Jessica James, Jimmy Lee Justice, Ted Johnson, Joe Kelly, Benny Croy, Johnathan Croy, Justin Kelly, Calvin Riffe, Chris "Mountaineer Man" Meadows, Pro Power Performance, RMB Racing, Joe Cox, Nick Sellars, David Smith, Wesley Outland, Chrissy Brooks, Stan Lester. I know there is a lot more! Just want to thank everyone for making it possible to be able to do what I Love the most and that’s drive race cars!!
