lAST FALL EVERYTHING APPEARED TO BE PEACHES AND CREAM BETWEEN CHRIS kEARNS AND THE NEW PROMOTER AT SANTA MARIA SPEEDWAY. HE STATED THAT HE WANTED TO BE SURE EVERYTHING WENT SMOOTHLY AND THAT HE WOULD ASSIST IN EVERY WAY. YESTERDAY HE (KEARNS) POSTED THE WC 360 SPRINT SCHEDULE, WITH SIX SHOWS AT KINGS INCLUDING THE BILLET CUP, WHICH WAS ONE OF IF NOT THE BEST RACES AT SMS LAST YEAR. NO SHOWS WERE POSTED FOR SMS AND I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT AFTER ALL THESE YEARS THAT THE NEW MANAGEMENT DID NOT DESIRE SOME SPOTS. WHAT IS GOING ON?

Am I not looking in the right place ? I have not seen the west coast 360 schedule .
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

The full 2013 USAC West Coast Sprint Car Schedule HAS NOT been released.
Kings Speedway released their schedule yesterday. Using those dates, I started a tentative schedule for the West Coast on my Schedules thread. Also, I posted the note- more dates to be announced.
The Billet Cup has been moved to Hanford. With most of the series regulars based around the Hanford, Bakersfield, and Fresno areas, the event should get a higher car count.

Kearns and the new promoter had a meeting the other night about both schedules. There are NO issues there.

Sorry for thinking that Chris posted the posted the schedule. Thought you were posting for him like you have for all the tracks shown on your list. What you are saying is that there is still hope some races will be run at SMS. Thanks for the explanation.

They have the winter challenge at canyon 1/25/26/27 and 1/30-2/2/3 and on 9/28 brawl for it all at canyon .i know there are a couple USAC /CRA races at SMS . I'm still hope for some races at tulare and oildale . Think the full USAC 360 series and KWS along with tulare schedule will fill in my schedule nicely.
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

CK and I are working together on the WC360 deal. There is LOTS of hope for SMS in the way of sprint car racing.

Let's face the facts, here. Typical WC 360 car count at Hanford or Tulare: 25-28. Typical car count at Santa Maria: 17-18. All the =top= cars and drivers show up, save perhaps for the Vander Weerds, but SMS is always 8-10 cars lighter than Kings and Toolar on WC 360 nights. (SMS is a long, grinding up-and-down grades, =expensive= tow from anywhere.) I'm sure RM wants 'em at SMS, but Chris and the Fortes before him were never able to charge more than $16.00 G/A (that I can recall) for a WC 360 show, and the show is not cheap. Chris always had to run a bunch of taxis to subsidize the sprints with extra revenue at the back =and= front gates.

You may want to stick around. The guy who's putting together the "unlimited" sprint series together says he's working on summer dates at SMS. Asked what he was planning this year, he answered,"8-10 shows with mix of open wheel and stocks. Staying away from the middle of summer probably spend that time in Ventura and Santa Maria....finalizing schedule now...stay tuned!!!!!! Scotty"

No problem Ruben...I'm sure there is more to the story behind the scene. Thanks for keeping Santa Maria Speedway Alive...
