24 Latemodels
1.) John Anderson
2.) Kyle Breck
3.) Kelly Boen
4.) Delbert Smith
5.) Gary Gorby
I think Kelly Boen did the most moving coming from around 12th or so to finish 3rd.
Randy Timms won the modifieds with Troy Gemmill coming in 2nd.
Here is a story I found from EnidNews.com:
Track suits Omaha racer
By Cheryl Licklider Staff Writer
Twenty-four
National Championship Racing Association (NCRA) late-model drivers
played to a near-capacity crowd at the Firecracker Shootout at Enid
Speedway Park Tuesday night in the fifth stop of their six-night tour,
“Speedweek 2007.’’
NCRA “Speedweek” series points leader John
Anderson of Omaha, Neb., found track conditions to his liking as he
picked up his second win in a row aboard his Shop Quick-sponsored car.
Anderson posted his first win Sunday night on the high banks in
Bellville, Kan.
“I’ve heard a lot of stories about Enid,
Oklahom,a from some of my modified buddies, and I have to agree that
this is a nice place to race,’’ said Anderson. “I had a blast tonight.’’
A
yellow flag waved before a single lap could be completed. Anderson
raced off the outside pole when the race went green and sped away from
the field. Anderson possessed a comfortable lead when the track went
under caution in lap six.
Anderson raced away when the green
flag waved with Gary Gorby and Kyle Berck in the hunt. Anderson found
the fast way around and broke away from the duo lapping three cars
before a yellow flag flew in lap 20.
Mayhem on the restart
brought out a red flag for a two-car crash in turn four. Anderson raced
away and had nearly a straightaway advantage when another caution flag
flew in lap 24. A two-car pile-up on the restart brought the yellow
back out.
Anderson sped away when the race finally stayed green
and was never challenged on his route to the winner’s circle. Berck
raced to second, trailed by Kelly Boen, Delbert Smith and Gorby.
Randy
Timms thrilled the crowd with a come-from-the-back victory run in the
modified main event aboard his Western Express-sponsored Shaw chassis.
Troy
Gemmill hustled off the pole and had nearly a straightaway lead when a
yellow flag came out as Greg Burt came to a halt on the track in lap 2.
Gemmill
took command on the restart and appeared unbeatable. But the man on the
move was Timms. Timms marched from the fifth row and into contention by
the middle of the race.
A heated duel ensued with Timms making
a daring high challenge on the 13th lap to take the lead. However, a
second caution came out for a two-car pile-up in turn two, putting
Gemmill back in the lead..
It was a drag race with Timms on the
top and Gemmill on the bottom of the track. Timms broke away in lap 16
and was never challenged on his way to the finish line. Gemmill settled
for second, followed by Darren Hacker, Jim Ciampi and Bud Longpine.
Tony
Sessions found track conditions to his liking as he led all 20 laps of
the limited modified main, posting his first win of the season.
“The track was good,’’ said Sessions. “It was dry slick in the heats, but tacky during the feature.”
Sessions
exploded off the outside pole and led the early goings of the race. A
yellow waved the third time around as first-half champion Michael
Shenberger came to a halt on the back straight.
Sessions resumed
the lead when the track went green with Frank Graven, Randy Miller and
Nick Shenberger in hot pursuit. The four raced away from the field so
close you could have thrown a blanket over them.
Sessions broke
away at the race’s midpoint and never looked back, taking a straight
away lead to the finish line. Nick Shenberger posted second, trailed by
Justin Danner, Miller and Graven.
Jerry Derr outlasted the field in the street stock feature for his second win of the season.
Derr,
the pole sitter, showed the way. A caution waved on the first lap as
Steve Unruh flew off the front straight and stopped in front of the
grandstands. Derr resumed the lead on the restart and wasted no time as
he sported nearly a straightaway advantage in a mere two laps. A yellow
flag waved in lap 11 when Jon Herring stalled in the groove in turn one.
A
red flag waved on the restart when Herring, Travis King and J.D. Choate
collided on the back wall, sending Choate into an easy roll over.
Derr
sped away when the green flag came out to easily win the race. Bobby Jo
Scott, Kenny Morris, Chad McNamara and Mark Smith rounded out the top
five.
Heat winners in late models were Bo Egge, Berck and Gorby.
Ciampi, Brendon Gemmill and Troy Gemmill won their heats in modifieds.
Limited
modified heat winners were Michael Shenberger, Cleo Adams and Scott
Parli. Derr, Ryan Bohnstedt and A.J. Brochu won in street stock.
Travis Penrod posted the win in the modified “B’’ feature.
Enid Speedway Park’s next card of racing will be at 7 p.m. Saturday.
