Rumor has it that new clay is being brought in to help w/ the spooning of the track. Which sounds graet right?

I hope not. Eldora has always been known for the high banks. Granted it need new clay, but not to this extream if its true. If it does happen, it wont be considerd the "Fastest 1/2 mile on Dirt".

I don't consider it the "Fastest 1/2 Mile on Dirt" anyway. That would be Belleville Highbanks...

If it were me, I'd say that racestud.com is full of sh*t... one would think that with Stewarts respect and history at Eldora that he would be smarter than that... also, if he was going to do this, why would he put up new fence this year, if the banking is cut, it will need all new.

Eldora isn't a 1/2 mile anyways... it's shorter than that.

i thought belleville was concidered 5/8th

And I thought Eldora is actually about 4/10ths.......

If more dirt was added to the inside groove area to reduce the banking, then the new fence could still stay as is.

Hopefully this is just a bad rumor.

If they don't take some of the dirt out of the middle of the turns his fence will be needing repairs more often than not, Some spots look to be about a foot high if that.

I called & order my KR tix today & asked the guy about the track. Yes there is new clay being moved in and the baking will be the same as years past. The 10" that has been talked about must be 10" removed & refilled w/ new clay.

So now this rumor can be put to rest.

There is no comparison at all between Belleville and Eldora although I will agree that fastest away around both of them is to never lift your right foot off the gas. Both have their very own unique aspects witch keeps them exicting to watch racing on. What Eldora needs to do is find some clay comparible to the gumbo used at Knoxville.

You mean used again at Knoxville finally. We had a bad period for about a decade or more. Good to see good dirt again on my home track.

That is correct Jackhole, that last stuff they used was pretty bad. Its just nice when a track is prepped once for the entire night. Tony should remove the current surface and replace it with that black gumbo. Even if he doesn't, I will not complain much as from what I have seem him do the place since he took over, its totally amazing. Kudos to him for all the improvements. I know we have not seen the last of them, he truely cares about the that place as much as Earl did.

We finally found some acceptable dirt up by Van Wert. October weather was so bad, we couldn't get started until about 2 weeks ago. We had 18 trucks running last week until the rains came. As soon as the weather moderates we will finish. We have a little over 200 loads on so far and it will take about 350 more as the center of the corners were about 3 feet low. The track will look flatter, but the banking will not change.

This is a huge investment but, in our opinion, necessary.

Larry this is great news, it would also be cool to see some pics on the web sight to see the progress. Also is the web sight getting updated anytime soon?

Hmmm.....I certainly hope this dirt is good, because that's about all that could be useful in the Van Wert area!!

Don't forget to support the local businesses up around Van Wert - they could really use the cash flow to pay for that new school!!

Spridge, They should do like Wapak & double the property tax !!! Maybe it was some dirt / clay that was at a secret location in Van Wert. Guess we'll see come March / April.

They still have to write a check for the dirt. It's not like it is free, it is a write off as an expense but it is not free. You have to show a profit for a write off to have any effect, otherwise it is a loss...

Too many people, who do not own a business always play that "write off" jargon and don't even know what it means.

I meant that they have to spend so much money a year. I know the dirt is not free. Like I expected them to get 550 loads of free dirt. They have to spend so much a year in business improvments or they get taxed to death by making so much and not 'improving'. After the infield concrete they ran out of ideas to improve. Make no improvments next year and save the money and make the investment of buying Dennisons land for the price that is asked.
