I'm reading that TNN was making its comeback debut on Nov 1. I dont think its on my channel lineup. Anyone see it? Its supposed to include TNN Motorsports as well! That would be very welcome as far as I'm concerned.

Looks like it's a local launch for now - according to the article. Maybe next March "the big push" will include national distribution via satellite and cable.

Man I sure hope TNN comes back. While it might not be the same as before if it does go national, I would love to see racing back on. Also, as a fan of country music, when all the Nashville based shows were discontinued on TNN (now Spike) - I kind of lost track of all that goes on there. Hope it resembles the early to mid-90s of TNN.

ya know what I miss the most, was thursday night thunder, Midgets up here in the Northern states just arnt as popular, ya cant get over thier quick lane changes and constant action, whats not to like , how about the winter footage of manzy, wish we could rewind a bit , I just might make the tow for something like that! as a kid i tuned into TNN as much as possible for thier racing coverage, anything would be a welcomed effort.

dirtdevil, I support your comments concerning how great Thursday Night Thunder was including exciting midget car racing. My memory tells me that Thursday Night Thunder was broadcast on ESPN. Wouldn't it be great if TNN returned to the airways and ESPN/ESPN2 included open wheel short track racing in its programming??

Even if they were to show OLD races in the down time as filler, that would be great. Don't know if there would be any sponsorship in as far as commercials with that programming tho. Kind of like the Nostalgia channel or TV Land, everyone has seen those old shows a million times, and know what happens and how they end, but they watch them anyway. Same goes for old races.

Thunder was on ESPN, Thursday night Saturday night and whatever other days they showed it.. There was some midget racing on TNN though...when they aired the Slick 50 winter series from Arizona 2 years in a row I know at least a few times they had midgets for a support class on the smaller infield track...can't remember if midgets were weekly that year or if they were sporadically mixed with legends cars or something as a support class....regardless, it was awesome as crap to see that much short track open wheel racing on TV, most of which was live. I will never forget (cause I have it on tape) the episode where Andy Hillenburg treed it good in hotlaps or timetrials, tweaked the hell out of the frame, used a welder and comealong to bandaid it together, and smoked the field in the A...that car was bent so bad you could see it on an old 13" TV and he still hauled the mail with it....good times good times
Loose is when you hit the wall with the rear of the
car, tight is when you hit the wall with the front of
the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and
torque is how far you move the wall.

Wasn't TNN's show called American Sports Cavalcade?

These were the days. I found one of them on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVAhf5ECMro
The one I remember the most for some reason was about 4 or 5 races in to the series when Steve Kent showed up in the Selma Shell car with 39 not 11k on the wing, and won his heat, the dash and the A.

ya, I knew it was ESPN I kinda got off on a tangent, seems most good conversation with good company goes that way , its all good , just the mention of TNN reminded me how fortunate we were when sprint racing seemed to be on the upswing plublically (what happened!) although, I dont mind its current level of underground, theres too many horror stories of Nascar weekends and events, ive attended one and that was two too many , part time race fans,(overpriced door cars that need a fight for interest) "Bubba and Betty Sue" ect just would kill the casual spectator in the grandstand, How many of you clicked over to you tube and punched in Slick 50 right after reading the start of this post? I know I did, Dec of 1992, still racing, loved it !
