History of the Fred Ercse Classic:
The first Fred Ercse Classic started 14 years ago with an event held at GoKart World, shortly after Fred's passing. JJ Ercse and family started promoting the event in 1999, donating all proceeds to the American Heart Association in memory of Fred Ercse and others lost to heart disease. Over the years, thousands of dollars have been raised through this memorable cause.
This annual race is held during the week of the prestigious Turkey Night Grand Prix so that many of the area's top racers, race fans, and national drivers (many from the Midwest contingent) are in town to support this and the Turkey Night Grand Prix.
We hope to see you there!

To beat this group would surely entitle the winner to some bragging rights. Drop the green flag!

Hey Rob, maybe it's the "OLD" that is the problem.

yeah,Harry old is an issue but the 50 extra pound on a Kart is like 500 on a sprint car. Maybe we could have A heavy weight division for us ol pharts.

I don't remember who it was. It was a mini biography of a sprint car racer in a program. According to the driver the highlight of his career was when he beat a bunch of the regular sprint car racers at Slicktrak.

Just want to say thank you for another great event! JJ and Lisa were very kind and opened the 60 person limit up to 70 entries. Unfortunately we still turned 15-20 people away due to the amount of karts and time. That's correct, 90+ people attended to race and many more to watch. Greg Alexander took the feature win leading all 50 laps. Rocky Bowen (Esslinger lead engine builder) finished an impressive 2nd in his first Fred Ercse Classic attempt and local racer Ken Gore finished 3rd. Cant wait for next year!

Thanks for the great update Jeremy Queener and for all your support! It WAS a very successful event, our biggest one yet!
And thank you to all who came out and supported our event and a special thanks to those that donated raffle items and other goodies! We will be donating $1800 to the American Heart Association in memory of our beloved Fred! Thank you all again!!

Was great to see you again . Thanks again for another great night, that always has me reflecting on my memories of Fred before during and after. Having known him and raced with him the Ercse Classic means a lot to me. Starting from dead last, Wearing my Dale Earnhardt shirt (Fred's favorite) and driving the 3 kart, to beat Ronnie Gardner and especially Kyle Larson to win the LCQ was the thrill of a lifetime. It's my fourth A main in five attempts and Tues was exactly five years since my first Ercse on 11/20/07. Three wednesday night regulars made the show : me, Chase and Ken Gore. Chase and Ken finished in the top 5, Unfortunately for the main I I drew the same awful 2 car i had in the first heat, a kart so slow even Brady Bacon tweeted about it , I almost parked it! Thats racing, see you guys next year.
