Makes sense. Everyone else went with Hoosier. They would have been on an island.

I think Bobby G. said it tonight on the broadcast.

Also, I guess Goodyear went out with a bang tonight, or should I say pop!

We'll be seeing larger car counts at Outlaw events that's for sure. One tire brand for all of 410 racing everywhere. Looks like a move for a brighter future. I'm liking it.

???

Outside of a handfull of tracks, ALL 410 cars were on Goodyears for the last 3 years and the 3 years before that they were ALL on Hoosiers.

I don't see this affecting car count at all at any event.

Where I see the BIG benefit will be if they go with the ASCS tire so the 410 teams can sell their used tires to low-buck 360 or 305 teams. This is the big benefit, for the last 3 years the 410 teams were on an island by themselves and couldn't sell used tires to anyone. This also hurt the 360 (358's in PA), and 305 classes as those teams had to buy new tires because there were no used ones available from a 410 team.

This should be a WIN/WIN/WIN for all divisions of sprint car racing if the tracks/sanctions go with a tire that can be sold to the next division.

I think he meant instead of having WoO go out on a limb w/ American Racer.

You are correct. It won't make a significant difference. The trend I have observed up here in Minnesota is that we have been seeing fewer teams from around the Midwest traveling up here for special events like the Outlaw races. That trend doesn't have anything to do with tire brands but has been all about diesel fuel for the haulers.

I can bet even if the 410 series and tracks go with the ASCS 16" tire they will rename the tire so you will not be able to sell tires to other series. Why do you think Hoosier has so many tires called different names, so they can sell more tires and limit where you can buy them only from certain dealers. Example being they a HTC tire that runs on the ESS, Patriots, and Ohsweken, USAC has the SC-2, ASCS has the Medium, NRA has their own branded tire, and MOWA runs SC-15.

Hopefully with all the 410 series going Hoosier they will all get on the same compounds and tire widths.

Agreed! And, they need to drop anything softer than an SC-15.

Is it just me or was this pretty out of left field. I mean a month or so ago WRG released that they had pretty much all but signed a contract with AR. Then nothing said for a while and all the sudden at Charlotte they slip in, oh and by the way we've signed a deal with Hoosier. Not that its a bad thing I just think it was kind of a funny turn of events. I think you could definitely say this was a case of a lot of pressure being put on them, I have a feeling that Tony's comments probably helped them make a decision along with all the other scrutiny of the AR racer decision.

I just can't wait for the first post by someone next year railing on Hoosier that someones tire blew and now Hoosier and WRG have ruined sprint car racing as we know it. Common on, you know its gonna happen.

Bottom line is Deery shouldn't have gone public w/ the desire to go to American Racer. He may have done it to try and force the track's hand, but it didn't work.

I think that some sanctions may do so. I believe Knoxville will adopt the ASCS tire for the 410's so they can have all (3) divisions that race there weekly on the same tire to "hopefully" help car counts in 2013 and beyond.

On a side-note, the Marion County Fairboard made the decision last night to NOT replace Toby Kruse with a new general manager. Gary Schumacher, John McCoy and Brian Stickel will run the track (all with different roles and responsibilities). I kind of felt the sameway about it coming out of left field. I think with all of the bad publicity that WRG was getting from everyone including press, crews, promotors, non regular drivers, etc they probably felt as if they had to go with what everyone else was doing. When Tony Stewart speaks publicly about you in a negative way and how you are just trying to make a quick buck, thats never a good thing. Like him or not, but Tony Stewart's teams draw a lot of people to WoO programs as does Kasey Kahne's teams. If WRG were to lose car owners like them, it would def be a big blow to their bottom line, and I don't care how much money they would have been making on the side with tires, no amount of money could recoup that loss.

I would say your right, he was testing the waters to see what the reception to it would be and the reaction they saw was obviously not positive

I think it was nice to see local tracks not waiting for the outlaws to make their decisions on tires and just go right to hoosier, after testing of course. But for once the outlaws had to do what the local tracks decided to do.
