FRIDAY OCT. 19 UPDATE:

Over 160 teams competed in the opening night of the Southern Challenge and IMCA Southern Sport Mod Nationals at Abilene Speedway on Thursday night.

The top 5 feature finishers last night in the Mods, SSM & SC are locked into the inside 5 rows of Saturday night's championship features. The next 5 finishers are locked into the inside 5 rows of Saturday night's B-feature.

Drivers that only planned to race on Friday and Saturday can do so, without penalty, and can still start on the front row outside of their respective divisions championship feature race by winning the qualifying feature tonight.

By finishing in the top 5 of tonight's program, it will lock drivers in the outside first 5 rows (starting positions 2-4-6-8-10) in each of the championship features. Drivers finishing 6-10th tonight in the qualifying feature will lock into the first 5 rows outside of the B-feature tomorrow night.

Any drivers who locked in last night, but would like to take a chance of improving their starting position on Saturday, can scratch their Thursday night qualifying effort and requalify tonight.

Click http://www.darinshort.com/abilene.html for the event info hub and visit www.AbileneSpeedway.com for track details. Thursday night results will be posted when available.

Best of luck to all teams competing & come join us for a great weekend of racing (and weather) at the Southern Challenge and IMCA Southern SportMod Nationals at Abilene Speedway!
