Steve will always be the King ! 40+ years on the road will take its toll. When you smoke and dont eat well you it ages you even more. Its a rough life out there and he is just aging. He has the best equipment as usual. He has the crew he wants. Even though I hear Scott Gerkin wants to retire. Its no more bad luck than he has had the past ten years. Its just a rough schedule on the road 24-7. Sammy is near his age and yes he has been winning, but he too was much better earlier in the season. He is looking tired now too. Remember Sammy has had a better schedule the past couple years prior to this season. Being able to race on your own schedule is much easier. Is Steve washed up NO. Should he retire ? Not unless he wants to. Would I bet against him nope. Its just time and the later the season the hotter the weather gets. Also I think he has nothing to prove and isnt willing to do what ever it takes. I agree with the post above when Sammy and Steve retire the WoO cant be the same.

i have never been a steve kinser fan and i too believe the end is near also for him. poor performances, (knoxville, dirt cup, gold cup) you name it this year. i have never seen him in so many "B" mains, ever.

so, with that said all of the really old guys will miss him but to the younger crowd, he's not a rockstar! the young guns are here. time to kick back and spend time on his boat.......and again gang, jmo here.

Kinser ran dirt cup? Haha and you call yourself northwest fan

Let me just start by saying I am a huge Steve Kinser fan. But with that being said it may be time to hang it up. It pains me to watch him decline like this and now with Gerkin supposedly leaving the road it is only going to get worse. He has not had a single quick time all year. You would think that at point this long year that he could stumble upon 1. I will hate to see him go as I grew up watching him and thinking he was one of the most bad ass people on the planet. Well he still is but I would hate for him to be one of those guys that sticks around to long. So let the debate begin. Should Steve retire or even go part time? Maybe a farewell tour in 2013? I know the WoO would hate to see him go cuz he still puts butts in the seats. What do you all think?

Should all of the cars that finished behind steve in points also retire? The Woo of Outlaws will look funny with 5 cars next year. A farewell tour is a little corny in my opinion, Steve will race if he wants to and cut back if he wants to, or stop. A WOO tour for just one season would wear most any driver down.

Its not Steve its the motors, if u go look at the twitter ull see almost every night u see the 11 or 11k changing a motor or having motor issues, i don't wanna say it but i hope gerkin calls it quits cuz all he needs is a new motor program cuz he is getting killed on the starts, uz when ur watching him race he still has the talent he just doesnt have the motor to get by and stay past someone. Point being he hasnt lost it cuz he had the points lead for over half the year. So case closed Steve Kinser needs a new motor provider!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kinser just needs to get down to 1400 lbs and quick times will come. Everything else is in place.

All teams, even the great ones have their ups and downs and the 11 and 11K are struggling right now. I'm sure nobody has to tell Scott, Steve and Kelly that their motor program is off. If Scott decides to get off the road, maybe he'll oversee the engine program? After all, I believe it was Scott who built all Karls motors too before he became crew chief for Steve. Give them a little time, they will figure it out and Steve & Kraig will be competetive again. Steve didn't win over 500 races by giving up when times go difficult.

Kinser has more than earned the right to end his game under his own conditions when he pleases with out the approval or disapproval of no one but himself. I would think that if you were a true Sprint Car fan you would agree. As for me I think he still has more than enough of what it takes and he will win more races. LONG LIVE THE KING.

Let them regroup this off season and get motors figured out and I think you will see them both back on top next year. They were both running up front earlier this year and then something went wrong in motor program. constantly out on road and can't get back to dyno and new parts long enough to figure it out. This may be the down side to building your own stuff in your own shop and being gone so much. He is not done and neither is Kraig. If you notice Kraig is 30 years younger and looks exactly the same with exactly the same motors. Let them use Sammys monster motors and they would have wood from now on...

There is no one better in the double file restarts. Kinser makes hay on those, lots of it. It's "get out of my way or else".

funny how we all forget Steve was leading the points for a while this year and, something happend... he started his year very strong if you ask me. Now he is going to hang it up.. I cannot disagree he is not performing up to what we would call the kings standards.. Gerkin leaving may just be a good thing.

Use this thread to determine how OP and anyone who agreed with him are clueless with no awareness in sprint car racing. As usual, so many totally clueless here...
