Howdy Budman88,
The rules/format are essentially the same as the 2011 LoneStar Sprint Nationals and are posted on the event website, at: http://www.darinshort.com/SCNrules.html
Regarding points. Heat races are draw for position, winner receives 150 points, dropping by 3 points/position. Plus you receive 1.5 points per position advanced in your heat (from starting to finishing).
The qualifying feature race is 200 points to win, dropping by 2 points. The B features start with points where the A feature ends (24th).
You can race one, or both qualifying nights. Your low point night of the two is your official points total going into Saturday.
If you finish the A-feature in the top 4 spots on either night, your points are thrown out, as you're locked into the top 8 starting spots on Saturday night's feature.
Then, the next 6 starters are locked in by points. That will be determined by the 6 highest point totals from either Thursday OR Friday, not including those already locked in.
The balance of the field will be split into two B-features, straight up by their highest point night. (There will be a C if need be, if there are too many cars to split into two B's.)
The top 4 from each of the 2 B-features tag the 14 cars already qualified (8 locked in, 6 from points); which makes 22 cars.
Then, positions 23-24 are drawn from non-qualifiers after the B-features that pre-entered online on or before October 8th (Monday night of race week)...so you're crazy not to pre-enter, as this race pays $1,200 just to start the Sprint Car division and $400 to start the RaceSaver division.
And 25th place starter will be auctioned off to the highest bidder, with bids starting at $1,200 and $400 respectively. Any amount bid over the starting money bid will be divided equally between the B-feature non-qualifiers.
By the way, this is the largest RaceSaver level Sprint Car purse in the U.S. Right at $35,000 cash is guaranteed to RaceSaver teams over the three day event. At the time of writing, there are already 45 RaceSaver teams that have registered.
Click www.darinshort.com/SCN.html for complete event info and to get your team registered. And thank you to all of those who have taken the time to get registered early, as it saves all of us a lot of time on Thursday night; as all teams' info is entered into the transponder system so race fans in the stands and across the web can access live line-ups and scoring as the weekend progresses.
Thanks again for your question & best of luck to all race teams at the 2nd annual $120,000 LoneStar Sprint Nationals, October 11-13.
ps: and a reminder that any event that I'm working with, whether it be the LSN, TMS, STN, Osky, Abilene; etc. you can find a direct link on the homepage of my website (so you don't have to remember the extension or find an event press release for the link) at: www.darinshort.com - the SmartPhone link to live event lineups and scoring will also be there on Thursday night of race weekend.
