On a half mile a good safe estimate would be 1/2 gallon for every wide open lap.

1/4, 1/3. or 1/2 mile track?
How many hot laps? Do you run the heat and the B Main? How many laps in the A main?
All of these variables impact fuel consumption, although a 360 should use a bit less than a 410...

on average about 40-45 gallons.that is a realistic number. most teams are prepared with fuel on hand for at least that. your actual milage may vary. lol

3/8 mile last night we used between 18 to 20 gallon in a 360 in 5 hot laps 10 heat laps and 25 lap feature.
Tell me how much money you got and I'll tell you how
fast you can go!

If you're worried about methanol mileage you should probably consider Street Stocks instead of Sprints.

What is the difference between Methanol, Alcohol, Ethanol, Nitro Methane, and normal Cam 2 racing fuels.
Took some friends to a Speedweek Show and one guy said the sprints didn't run on methanol cause he could smell alcohol fumes. ( he used to drag race). just wondering if some could help me. thanks

Info from WikiPedia:
Methanol
Alcohol
Ethanol
Nitromethane
Gasoline
"Cam 2" is the generic name used for Sunoco Race
Fuels. The name is used wherever
the "Sunoco" brand name cannot be used, such as gasoline outlets which carry a
competing brand of street gasoline. Cam 2 is available in 110, 112, and 116 octane
leaded, and 100 and 104 unleaded.
Enjoy the light reading...
P.S. Tell your friend that sprints do indeed run on methanol. Depending on the level of drag racing, he may have been used to Nitromethane. "Top Fuel" dragsters run on nitromethane. "Top Alcohol" dragsters run on methanol. Generally anyway...

On average, we've been using around 18 gallons in a 360 on a 1/3 mile track in the 25 lap "A" main.
The most was 21 gallons when there were a ton of yellows.

methanol can be made from natural gas or oil. but it is mostly made from coal. there is a process that combines steam and coal and turns it into a gas and then from there it goes through some other steps where it becomes methanol. a lot of methanol we use is considered hospital grade. which means it is 99.9% water free. i don't know just what the hospital use is. mybe sterilazation or something. alchohol as far as we are concerned is not a fuel. the words methanol and alchohol are somethimes used to describe the same thing. meaning methanol. ethanol is distilled from corn or some other form of organic type stuff. (good description huh). nitro methane carries it's own igniter (oxegen) and will mix with methanol very easy compared to mixing it with gasoline as methanol is basically a water based fuel like ethanol. and the racing fuels you speak of are basially gasoline with a lighter specific gravity to make them have less of a flash ratio than regular gasoline.meaning they will not detonate as easy and have a slower flame speed for a more controlled and complete burn. mixing about 16 ounces of methanol to 1 gallon of gas and adding a couple of ounces of solvent such as acetone to blend them makes a pretty good race fuel. that is if you are in a class that must run gas and you are looking for a way to enhance it. or cheat shall we say. if your class tests useing specific gravity and you have enough margine to find a light fuel like cam 2 blue (if they still make that, it has been years since i messed with it but it used to be 108 octane and a LOT lighter than pump gas.) and mix the heavier methanol in with it to bring the specific gravity up. so you can say you are not cheating if it passes the hydrometer test. (yeah right lol.)
