Kudos to the staff at SDS for a great main event track. Was pretty good racing all night except anyone who drew a late qualifying number was at a big disadvantage..hopefully that will change tonight (I still cant figure out why when the outlaws come to town everyone hot laps on the bottom and for EVERY friday night show no one hot laps the bottom EVER)
Why would you run the stock cars last??? 80% of the fans left after the sprint car race & Half of the trailers had already left the pits by the time us fans got there...not a very smart move as no one sold any t shirts. (The stands were pretty empty last night..probably say a max of 50%...turns 1 & 2 were very empty all night)
My big concern is this....how many people are going to be pissed spending $50 on Saturday to watch 3 races??? At 44 cars that gives you 20 locked in the A, Maybe a 12 car B taking 4 and a 12 car C taking 4. Are they going to change the format Saturday night so they are not done by 9pm????

I'm pretty sure it's cumulative points from two nights of racing that lines up Saturday.

Unless they have changed it I believe the top 20 after BOTH prelim nights are locked in and all the others race for the final four spots.

Which brings us to some of the major deficiencies in the level of communication from the current SDS management:
Where is the format for this years Gold Cup presented? It is obviously different from prior years since everybody runs both Thurs. and Fri. I imagine Sat. is a show up points only deal since it is not standard WoO format.
What is the payout for Thurs., Fri. and Sat.? How much to win on Sat.? I willingly supported John Padjen with the increases in ticket prices when they went to $50K for the winner (against the NST). But I resist paying extra high ticket prices when they won't disclose what they are doing for the competitors and keep the fans in the dark.

i believe it is 20k to win. i heard Dennis was offering free entry Plus free pit passes and discounted to get entries and obviously that didnt work well. To sit in the stands was 25, 40,45, & 50...but was $150 for all 4 nights I think. Why would Thursday and Friday be different?
My point was you will probably have 40-42 cars saturday...how many mains can there possibly be. my guess is they will stretch it out with more cars in the lower mains with higher number of transfers...all that does is cost the race more money for tires and fuel.
Why would you schedule a stock car race AFTER the main event??? and why would you make those poor drivers pay $45 to get in and race one race for 20 laps? This could be one of the reasons for no support classes at the speedway.

You are absolutely correct, we had no confirmed idea until after the main on Fri how many were locked into the A main event. Not trying to pile on SDS or WoO, but the communication on the final night format has been lacking on the details. No idea why Fri night was treated differently than Thur night as far as entry fees goes either. Running the stock car mains after the sprint car mains has killed any fan interactions with the drivers afterwards. Not smart IMO.

I read there would be two "B" races tonight and they would take the top four from each one to fill out the 24 car field for the feature.

2 from the C to the B, 6 from the B plus the 2 quickest qualifier's that don't make it out of the B will start 23rd and 24th in the A main.
Make it to the A main just by how fast you qualify? That sucks.

it was the two highest in points that hadn't yet made the show who got in as the last two cars on sat. not the two fastest qualifiers.
