We are a Pa. based 410 sprint team that is starting to plan a trip to the Nationals in 2013. We are planning ahead due to budgeting, and would like suggestions on lodging, places to wash car, work on car, eat, etc.. Even someone with setup help that knows Kville or has worked out there.
Thanks for any advice or help i appreciate it.

This is awesome and great to hear. I'm one of the Maryland fans that hauls down to Pennsylvania when I'm off from college and me and my dad always root for you at Lincoln since your one of the few drivers based out of MD. We also head out to Knoxville every year.
Lodging wise, a large number of teams park their haulers either in the Knoxville outer pit area or the outskirts of Knoxville. Not sure, but I'm assuming they stay in nearby hotels.
Lucas Wolfe stays at the Motel 6 in Des Moines. They park the hauler in the parking lot and work on the car during the day. That's an option as well. Des Moines is about a 45 minute drive from Knoxville.
As a fan, that's as much help as I can offer.
Best of luck.
Are you guys planning on getting your motor back and finishing out the season? We were there when it blew...

Just adding on, I know how low budget you guys are and how hard you work, the Nationals is an event beyond description that every sprint car team, no matter how much funding they have should try and hit at least once.
This is awesome news.

There is a relatively new car wash in the Super Walmart Parking lot where most wash their cars & equipment. There are even some race teams that set Race camp up at the Walmart parking lot. Jack Dover is one that has some sort of arrangement with Wally World but I'm sure he stays at a hotel or camps some where else in town. Call the Knoxville Raceway or the chamber of commerce as there are home owners that cater to race teams and their haulers, I actually seen some offering here on Hoseheads this year. Knoxville is a small town with all the big town amenities so if you plan ahead your visit should be a pleasurable one. Some other towms close to Knoxville with Hotels are Newton at around 25 miles (right off of I-80), Pella which is about 15 miles, Oskalooska 25 miles. I would really recommend talking to the Chamber of Comm and try staying local if you want to save on driving and $$$ Good Luck to you and see you there.

" Lucas Wolfe stays at the Motel 6 in Des Moines" Really? So do I, but he must stay at the more northern Motel 6 (has pool!). I stay at the one by the airport (cheaper!), as do several other out of towners. I'd like to meet him

I've seen Wolfe stay at the Super 8 across from the airport, not this year, but in past years.

talk to the PA teams that come to knoxville each year. You should probably start now. Motels in Knox is limitedCheck in Newton for motel. Track has camp grown parking for race team campers. Knox has alot of eating places.

Sorry, that's what I meant. Super 8, not Motel 6. I'm fairly sure he stayed there this year as well.

If you can't find anything right in Knoxville, you can always try Pella, which is about 15 miles away, or Oskaloosa or Indianola. There's alot right around there.

How big of a hauler do you have? Are you the kind of guys that are going to stay out after the races and party all night? There is several options in town depending on how you answer these questions. Answer honestly, Knoxville locals can hold a grudge if you lie to them. Let me know your thoughts and I will probably be able to set you up with something.

Opperman has the right idea. Knoxville has quite a few lower budgeted teams and you might be able to strike up a friendship with one of them and they could come to PA on an exchange basis, it would be great for both teams. No matter what, welcome to the greatest week of your sprint car life, no matter the results, enjoy it while you can, GOOD LUCK!!!!!

We have a 36ft gooseneck towed with a chevy dually, we will only have 2 guys including myself so partying all night will be held to a minimum during the racing since i will need my rest to work on car and be sharp racing wise so we can be as good as we possibly can.
