Anybody who watched Twin Cities channel 5 6pm news tonight (Tuesday) and saw the interview of the Minnesota National Guard soldier in Iraq Nick Peterson who received the Bronze Star. That was my son-in-law that I've been mentioning on the message boards. Awesome job Nick. We're looking

forward to getting you back out to Cedar Lake soon buddy.

Ch 5 made a slight error. Nick is from Forest Lake and his guard unit is out of Pine City. They referred to him as a soldier from Pine City. Here's the article and the video can be viewed at this link:

Pine City soldier honored for heroics in Iraq

A Minnesota soldier was honored for his bravery in Iraq.

Sgt. Nicholas Peterson of Pine City says he can't wait to come home and see his new baby, but for now he's focused on his mission in the al-Anbar province securing roads and clearing improvised explosive devices.

The military awarded him with the bronze star for saving lives.

"I was awarded the bronze star medal…we reacted to an IED and with that we ended up hitting the secondary.
