SANTA MARIA, CA – AUGUST 28, 2012… This Labor Day Weekend, September 1st & 2nd, the Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series will return to Calistoga Speedway for the 5th Annual Louie Vermeil Classic. Co-sanctioned with the USAC Western Classic Racing Series, the event will also feature the popular USAC Western Midget Series. There will be many pre-race festivities for race fans to enjoy and cars are scheduled to hit the scenic 1/2-mile race track at 5pm.

Bring back the outlaws for three nights during this weekend. This was a nice alternative the first year. But the hype for this race isnt there... For the second straight year, i wont be going...

Ok. What hype is missing? What do the event organizers need to do to get more fans and interest? Press releases have been issued from several sources for over a month. Plus notes, online posters, etc have been sent throughout the internet and social media like Facebook.

Granted, I think the race was more of an event from a fan perspective when it first started. The first race had a number of NorCal hot shoes like Brent Kaeding, Tim Kaeding, Jason Statler, and Darrell Hanestad. Jesse Hockett ran the McMillen car and Damion Gardner would come out from back east.

Now, the race is a co-sanctioned with USAC/CRA and the USAC Western Classic Series.

You just can't fix this kind of stupid. The 3 day winged shows were boring and rarely had any good racing. The non wing shows have all been pretty good even when the track ate tires.

Cheers!
