Although the early entry deadline for mail-in entries to the Port-A-Cool® U.S. National Dirt Track Championship (USNDTC) at Texas Motor Speedway's Dirt Track has passed, drivers can still get 'early entered' by registering online by Monday, September 3.
With the Holiday weekend in progress, entries postmarked by 8/31 will not be received by TMS until Tuesday, due to no mail delivery on Monday; so we're keeping the online entry open through Monday.
By clicking http://www.darinshort.com/dtc.html Modified & Limited Modified drivers can still get 'early entered' online, and be eligible for the provisional starter drawings as well as the early entry discount.
Online 'race week' pricing goes into effect on September 4th. Entries will also be accepted at the track at race night at 'race week' pricing, which is $40 higher.

weather.com's forecast for the weekend looks does not look good.....
but this is also the same lot that said it was 80 with sunshine while it was 60 and raining all day at the big sprint show at cowtown in October 2009. Gonna need them to be wrong like that again going the other direction. They've got 60% or higher on Fri. Sat. and Sun.
Hey what is a ballpark figure you guys are thinking will show up in the two mod classes?
How much would could a wouldchuck chuck if a
wouldchuck could chuck would

NWS (NOAA) is the only source for the most accurate weather.
Here's the forecast as of Thursday morning...and remember, TMS has jet dryers if they have to:
- Friday Night A 40
percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 8pm. Mostly
cloudy, with a low around 63. North wind around 10 mph.
- Saturday A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a high near 79. North northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
- Saturday Night A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 62. Southeast wind around 5 mph.
Here's the NWS link for the latest forecasts:
http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?CityName=Justin&state=TX&site=FWD&textField1=33.0866&textField2=-97.2999&e=0
Regarding mod/ltd car count, with there already being over 200 paid entries, remember, they qualify on Friday night and their features are on Saturday (no heats), and the Ltd Mod B's will run before the show technically starts (6pm), so for sprint fans, it will probably be around 7:30-8 when the first sprint race hits the track. The track will be reworked after the ltd mod B's Saturday night (due to the early start time).

There was no rain whatsoever at the speedway yesterday, and practice night pictures and updates are available for viewing at:
www.darinshort.com/dtc.html
Updates will be posted there throughout the race weekend.
Forecasters
are still saying there's a chance of light rain, primarily before 1pm
today, then occasional, spotty light rain here and there throughout the
Metroplex (30%) today and tomorrow (20%)...but highs each day around 80;
so in reality, nearly perfect for dirt track racing, as it should help
keep the track surface from getting too baked.

FYI...there were 178 mods/limiteds that practiced last night and
approximately 60 mods/limiteds that have registered were not there, so
that puts the mod/limited car count, currently, at about 240.

It was a wild night of racing as the Port-A-Cool® U.S.
National Dirt Track Championship at Texas Motor Speedway’s Dirt Track
kicked off. The track was fast and wide, with drivers advancing through
the field regardless of where they started.
134 Limited Modifieds and 100 Modifieds competed in heats and qualifying
races and around 14 ASCS National Sprint Car division teams hot lapped
their cars in anticipation of their complete race program being held
tonight. The sprint cars were flat out around the high side of the track
and turning lap times in the 14.5-14.7 range.
There were a few times that it misted throughout the evening, but never enough to 'dampen' the racing on the 4/10 mile oval.
And today's forecast is much dryer in nature. Here's the latest from NOAA, as of 8:15AM Saturday:
Today A chance of drizzle before 1pm. Patchy fog before 1pm. Otherwise,
mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. West northwest wind around 5 mph.
Tonight A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. Calm wind.
Join us tonight for the finale, as the ASCS National tour has a complete
program of heats and features; and the Limited Modifieds and Modifieds
compete in their last chance races (no heats) and championship features.
Click http://www.darinshort.com/dtc.html for complete event information.
Visit http://www.TexasMotorSpeedway.com for tickets and more information about the speedway.
And for a $5 grandstand ticket discount offer, go to Texas Motor Speedway's Facebook page.
