Didn't realize how pathetic the Royal's purse was until I pulled up the entry form today. Seems like the same exact payout they had the last time I attended out there (1988).
For "argueably" the 2nd biggest race of the year, it's not much better than a standard WoO purse in my opinion. I will give it to them that they at least try to keep the ticket price down @ $32 for a reserved seat, but come on, they could increase the purse some you would think with the amount of people that travel to this race every year.
Payout per the entry form
1.$50,000 2. $12,500 3. $7000 (5th place in the "b" @ Nationals gets paid this) 4. $5000 5. $4000 6. $3500 7. $3000 8. $2500
9. $2250 10. $2200 11. $1950 12. $1850 13. $1700 14. $1600 15. $1550 16. $1500

Yeah, I wonder why it dropped down this year....
Last year it was 50,000 to win, and $2,250 to start the A main.....

Didn't Crown Royal give everybody who pre-registered for the race a $1,000 bonus if they made the A-Main? That would be the extra scratch for ya Skinner...

Yeah...I thought that was just $1000 extra if you pre-registered and won....making it $51,000....
But you may be right on that being spread down through the field....where's Bateman when you need him??

Crown Royal put up 25,000 Grand, 1,000 to put her in the field if pre registered & 500 each for the 1st 2 that did'nt make the show.
