I think the idea is pretty neat. Anybody who thinks these types of machines or ideas are far fetched
and not good for racing has their heads in the sand. Yep you heard me "Heads" in the sand...i.e.
both heads....LOL!
That's like saying engine dynos are not good. Smokey Yunick had one of the first engine dynos
60 years agao. Anybody who builds engines has a engine dyno or should have one. That's like saying shock dynos are not good. Almost any sprint car team worth thier weight in gold has a shock dyno. Even wheel balancers are electronic and you can buy one for 1000 dollars.
Many teams back East use chassis dynos to start their sprint cars and tune their engines under load.
Any would-be engine tuner has a portable weather station and the tables/specs to
determine which pills they would use for tonights racing events. Engine monitoring is common
every day stuff that any street racer is aware of and uses on a daily basis. It's like brushing
your teeth everybody does it unless you are a redneck!
The use of computers and 3D modeling and stress analysis is common everyday stuff
in todays world and cheaply available. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to go to school
to become and engineer. It only takes desire. If you think Sprint car simulaters are bad for
racing I would say you are bad for America. We live in a technological world against
the best minds in the world. Don't allow yourself to fall short and become one of those
people goin' crazy because you refused to keep up with technology that is forever changing.
Sincerely,
Larry Otani
P.S. A race car simulator should be number one in your racing mind. If you are not thinking
that way you are not racing. Just ask Kasey Khane, Bud Kaeing or Brent Kaeding.
All these guys knows what it takes and they are getting their information from the people
who use these tools on a daily basis. I know they are thinking I need one of these in my
shop to get the edge.
