Very nice historical review of the nearly 3/4-century history of the TNGP by JC Jr. and Don K. in front of the crowd. Race winners since 1934 at Gilmore in Hollywood have included Ronnie Householder (three times), Danny Oakes, Bill Vukovich, Perry Grimm (twice), Johnnie Parsons ("senior"), Bullett Joe Garson, Tony Bettenhausen, A. J. Foyt (twice), Billy "the Old Gray Fox" Cantrell, Parnelli Jones (twice) back in the "golden age" ...... Winners in the modern (roll cage) era include Gary Bettenhausen, Tony Simon, Mel Kenyon, Norman "Bubby" Jones, Rick Goudy, Ron Shuman (800 times), Chuck Gurney, Stan Fox (twice), and Billy Boat (three times) ..... On asphalt (I know; who cares?) the race was won by no less than Tony Stewart at I'dale in 2000; Bryan Clauson has won the last two there.

Fantastic. Once again a "proper" venue for Turkey Night. I'm just sorry I now live 400 miles away from Perris and that my get up and go has got up and went!

raj,

I know Ron Shuman won the Turkey Night race quite a few times but I'm pretty sure it's a lot less than 800! Don't worry I hit the wrong or extra keys all the time and I'm sure that Shuman would be flattered by that number!
