Comeback From 22nd Nets Larson 10th In Placerville Civil War Go
Moves Into Eighth In Series Points

Placerville, CA.  June 23, 2007.  The California Civil War Series for 360 sprint cars returned to the Placerville Speedway Saturday night and Kyle Larson continued his recent string of top finishes by posting a 10th place effort in the thirty lap feature race.  The impressive run was highlighted due to a spin on lap nine, which relegated the 14 year old charger to restarting 22nd in the event.  With the strong performance, the Elk Grove, California resident moved into eight place in the Civil War series points, just one point out of seventh, while also solidifying his place atop the rookie standings.

Larson qualified his Dave and Debbie Vertullo ParkerStore/CRV Racing Products/Eagle Kistler 21st of the 38 sprint car teams assembled and earned the pole position of the first heat.  He jumped out to the lead and raced to a 10 car length win that gave him an automatic transfer into the A-main. He also recorded the fastest lap of all competitors in the heat races.

Larson started 17th in the feature event and had moved up to 15th at the time of the lap nine spin in turn two.  By the mid-point of the race Larson had moved into 16th.  At that point Larson also began to battle a severe vibration, which was caused by his right rear wheel becoming packed with red clay from the tall cushion that lined both ends of the foothill bullring.  Showing extra determination, Larson fought forward into 13th by lap 19 and finally got into tenth with six laps to go.  Despite a scary moment climbing the back stretch embankment on lap 28, Larson was able to make a remarkable save and hold his position to the finish. “I thought I was a goner there on lap 28,” said Larson. “How I saved it, I don’t know.  But I will say, I’m really starting to like this place.  The cushion can be tough if you miss it, but if you hit it just right it can launch the car off the turns, and lately that has been working real good for me.  I’m not sure if we’ll race here this coming Saturday, but we’ll be here for sure on the Fourth of July and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Larson’s racing efforts are sponsored by ParkerStore, CRV Racing Products, Starr Real Estate and Property Management, Safety Solutions – LFT Technologies, D & J Towing, Heritage Drywall, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, RPM Indoor Kart Racing and Conference Center, Platinum Powdercoating, JW Web Design, Wion’s Body Shop, SWEPCO Lubricants and Sierra Tire and Wheel.
