Should be a great weekend of racing with the IRA. Saturday will be the Kenosha County Fair race at Wilmot which is a larger purse and one of the biggest crowds of the year. Then on Sunday they head to Lasalle Speedway in IL for a $4000 to win show which should have a large car count with the IRA, MOWA and got to figure a few Knoxville regulars.
Anyone got any scoop of outsiders coming?

Where were all the IRA guys during nationals? Think Reinke was the only one to show up. Did they
have a race somewhere?

What about the Friday night show at Wilmot? Will a good number of IRA regulars run Friday night or is the car count expected to be relatively low?

Usually not that many IRA regulars will run the Friday night show due to the lower purse and that there is 2 more nights of IRA point racing that weekend. Look for around 24 cars on Friday but I am sure on Saturday the car count will be up in the 30-35 range.
Sure would be cool to see Brian Brown, McCarl and others at Lasalle on Sunday taking on the high banks.

Read somewhere that McCarl will be running Huset's, There might be a few other stragglers. Also seen where Ian Madsen was going to run Butler, Mi.. Maybe he will stop by on his way back. I figured around 40 cars because the MOWA fellas will be there. I will be there spectatin, Pretty nice of the boss to send me out to our warehouse in Ottawa.

I would expect to see most of the MOWA boys show up. The IRA pays WAY more than MOWA does. The MOWA officials have nice shirts, nice vehicles, their own food at the track like WoO (lol) and pay out didly for racing.
I tell it like I see it.

Trying to remain as professional and objective as possible, allow me to reply to your issues..
1. Nice Shirts - Yes, I am one who wears a new for 2012 MOWA sublimated shirt... that I personally paid for. Last year in our first season, the officials wore white Polos purchased from the shelves of the Jacksonville, Illinois J.C Penney and embroidered in Springfield, Il at a total cost to the series of $0.
2. Nice Vehicles - There is only one vehicle that travels with MOWA and one old red trailer with a logo on the side to carry the personally owed 4 wheelers and scooters of our staff. The vehicle is a 1998 Chevy dually with 2XX,XXX miles that occasionally actually runs and doubles as our safety truck. The truck is owned by an official of the series, purchased with his money as was all of the fire equipment in the rear and the the 24ft trailer. Total value of all 3 items, roughly $10,000. Total cost to MOWA, $0.
3. Food At The Track - The ladies who run the pill draw and handle our fan giveaways travel countless miles throughout our region at their own expense prepare food occasionally for our drivers to eat when they draw a pill. Typical fare might be Chicken and Noodles in a crock pot, or perhaps a some fried chicken. Total cost to the series $0.
4. Don't Pay Out Diddly For Racing - Perhaps that is fair criticism. Our minimum purse was raised by roughly $2,000 in this, our 2nd season. Prior to last season, only one track in Illinois South of LaSalle even held a 410 sprint car race (Jacksonville) with a weekly show of $1,500 to win. Out of our next 6 races, 3 of them will pay at least $3000 to win/$300 to start. We continue to keep our minimum purse in line with what we view our success is at the gate. Slowly but surely we are getting to where we can command higher purses while still having a show that is successful for the tracks so that we are welcome back in the future.
5. Our members and supporters raise the point fund for our series through a fundraiser at our awards banquet the previous season. That money is segregated and not used for any series expenses throughout the year so that it will be there to payout at the following year's banquet. For the 2012 season we will pay out a $10,000 points fund in November that was raised last November. With the continued support off our fans, we can hopefully do the same for next season at our banquet in November.
It's kind of amazing how in a year and a half we can take a group of racers that are happy racing for a certain purse at Jacksonville - raise that purse, take our show on the road but still pretty close to our home base, keep winged sprint car racing alive in Illinois after our home track stops running weekly.... and still have people find things to complain about. Yes, we want to race for better purses, and with your continued support and the support of sprint car fans throughout our area, we will be able to continue on our path to get there.

Saw on the IRA Facebook page Danny Smith will be running at Lasalle. Plus Jack Hewitt will be on hand with his two seater.

You guys need to keep up the good job your doing. We really need a good regular series here in Il.I live near Lesalle and 1 race a year is not enough. Travelling 4-5 hours to see a good show is a real downer. Don't mind it once in a while but Lesalle or Springfield is sure a lot more appealing.
Even though it will be tough Monday after a Sunday show it beats the alternative.
Bring back Santa Fe, and LaSalle .

To MOWA: What you are doing is a good thing, and you can use all the support you can get. Keep doing what you are doing......Some people cannot post anything on here without bitching. With that being said, poofsootracing, it is WILMOT, not WILMONT...............Thank you.....

Thanks for responding to IL Sprinter. You forgot to mention that officials drive their own vehicles at their own expense. My roundtrip for Illinois Speedweek was 984 miles, 2 nights in a motel, all my meals, 3 visits to the car wash and would I do it again...YES

Back to the topic at hand...
No matter which direction you travel from to get to LaSalle, Sunday night at LaSalle can be the cap to a great racing weekend...
From the North, catch the IRA at Wilmot on Saturday, LaSalle on Sunday.
From the South, catch the Champ Cars at the Illinois State Fair on Saturday and LaSalle on Sunday
From the West, catch the Sprint Invaders double features at Burlington on Saturday and LaSalle on Sunday
From the East, Find a good Non-Wing race in Indiana (haven't looked) on Saturday and LaSalle on Sunday.
Whichever way you go to get there, it's going to be a great weekend of open wheel racing. Heck, Jack Hewitt is in the two seater. Tough to beat that!
