He nearly wadded up the whole field in turn one last night. It's great that he wants to compete but he's clearly 2 seconds a lap off the pace.
More weight, more regulation, more similarity in the
cars.... that will ensure plenty of thrills for years
to come. Only the most average talent behind the
wheel will be needed with such awesome equipment on
the track!

Come on, be nice, for a while last night he was quick time. I even got to udder those words in the Chat Room on Dirtvision, who cares if it was the first and last time, it happened.

For those that don't know Mr. Bell he is an original throw back, some would say a dinosaur but there are few people that will say a bad word about the man, he's that good of a guy. Years ago at the Knoxville banquet he announced he was retiring because his car's frame wouldn't meet the new thickness requirement necessary to continue to use it there. Lo and behold, when they announced the chassis winners at the end of the night Mr. Robert Bell was one of them and he immediately got up and announced he was Unretiring, might have been the shortest retirement in sports history!

I agree. Robert Bell is part of what makes racing great. I also got a smile out of Robert Bell being on the top of the speed charts for a moment.

He is also a great answer to some racing trivia.......Name the driver who built a sprint car in his mobile home trailer and had to take the trailer apart to get the car out.

It looked to me like Robert tried getting as tight to the inside as he could, to gracefully fall back. Gracefully going to the back is one of the hardest things you can do. I give him credit for having the balls to start on the pole. My Wife and I cheered and had a drink to Robert for having "FAST TIME". He has way more fun per cubic dollar than most out there.....

For a guy that had nothing in his pit but his car I think he definitely made the most of what he had. He timed in faster than 9 other cars that were better funded so I would say he deserved his starting spot. He didn't wreck anyone, didn't take the middle through turn 1, and after talking to him after races felt he was run down to the inside berm and did his best to hold his line so he wouldnt wreck himself or anyone else. In my 25 yrs of attending the Nationals I've seen better drivers with better equipment take out multiple cars on the start more than one time. Enjoy the moment of the underdog because it is the stuff dreams are made of and these moments only come along occasionally. Sometimes it's Bobby Allen winning it all other times its Carmen Manzardo holding off Steve Kinser for a couple of laps, and this time it is Robert Bell setting Quick time on the second night of qualifying...even though he was first out he was still on top and it brought great joy to Section I. I'm with Smokey, go buy a shirt or hat and support a racer who I just met last night but acted like he'd always known me.

Nearly wadded it up...Remember Ian Madson(quick time)spins and takes out Lasoski, Johnson puts Sammy over the cushion and nealy wadds it up, and McCarl spins warming up his tires? I have have been going to Knoxville for 30 years and can't remember the last time Robert come in on the hook because he wadded it up. Everyone steps on it once in awhile but in Roberts defense he usually stays out of everyones way. Great guy and an icon at Knoxville. He is definantly on a shoe string budget. And that shoe string has been broke and re-tied many times!

Give Robert a break. I stood up at home and cheered out loud when he set quick time last night, even though it didn't last long.

The first night Robert pulled into the pits at Knoxville this season Lori McCarl was reported to have said something to the effect of "Robert Bell's here. All is right at Knoxville." That hit the nail on the head. The guy is managing to live his dream on a less than shoestring budget.

Go Robert! Have fun. Be safe!

I believe it was the 05 nationals afternoon show, but robert wadded it up. by the time they kicked everyone out of the pits for the opening of the nights events robert was again rolling on 4 wheels. everyone and i mean everyone was over there bringing a various part or helping him put it together. was an amazing thing to be a part of and one i will never forget. (on a side note I dont think the Dude will be buying robert any new tires anytime soon as he did that day in 05).

Re The Dude buying tires.

Is there a reason other than Lasoski himself being on a limited budget?
