I am considering going to Knoxville just for Sat. and have never been there. My main thing is I don't have anyplace lined up to stay. So my question is, if I pulled in on Sat. would I be able to find any where to set up a tent and park my car. I would say I wouldn't spend much time at the tent as I'm sure I would head out to walk around and take in the sites and would get back late. So does anyone think that I would find someplace to setup the tent or am I nuts to think I can pull into town on Sat. and find a place to set my tent up.

You can probably set your tent up at the back of the north campgrounds,but you would need to check price for one night ,might be to much . You could just sleep in your car some where if oyur going to stay out late might not get any sleep anyway. could just pay to park at cement factory( south side of fairground) and just sack out there.
