August 7, 2012
September 1-2, 2012 will see the non-wing sprint cars of USAC/CRA and Western Classic Series and the Western States Midgets return to the famed Calistoga Speedway as part of the prestigious Fifth Annual Louie Vermeil Classic (LVC). Drivers slated to compete in this year's event include two-time LVC champion Mike Spencer and fellow CRA competitors Nic Faas, Austin Williams, Rip Williams, Cody Williams, Matt Mitchell, Brody Roa and Cory Kruseman. Western Classic Aces include Ryan Bernal, Shauna Hogg, Tony Hunt, Marty Hawkins, Andy Forsberg and Kyle Hirst.
The pre-race events include the always popular Louie Vermeil Wine Pouring Classic event on Saturday and Beer Garden on Sunday. The Wine Event will see at least fifteen world class wineries pouring their finest vintages. The Beer Garden will include a dozen microbrews available for sampling. Both events are just $10 for unlimited tasting and will occur between 1-5pm each day. This is the best wine tasting bargain in the Napa Valley, so plan to bring your friends and family to enjoy these fantastic events. Live music of Mad Dash Oldies Revue and Third Party (Classic Rock) will occur on both Saturday and Sunday, respectively. The Grand Marshall for the 2012 LVC will be former World of Outlaw and non-wing sprint car standout Jack Hewitt. Joining Hewitt at the autograph sessions occurring at both wine and beer events, will be original World of Outlaw Shane Carson, multi-time CRA Champ Jimmy Oskie, and NARC champions LeRoy Van Connet and Jimmy Boyd.
National Football League Hall of Fame coach Dick Vermeil will also be on-hand to honor his father's wonderful legacy in California motorsports. In support of this great event, Vermeil will be pouring wine from his award winning Vermeil Winery at Saturday's Wine Pouring event.
Hot laps begin at 5pm and qualifying at 5:45 each night. This is one of the most anticipated annual racing events in California.
