"Of note is the absence of Damion Gardner, who is attending the funeral of long-time sponsor Pat Kehoe, owner of Pace Lighting/Electronics" This was posted on usac's twitter feed last night.

11 touring teams made the trip the lone team not to make the trip was Damian Gardner who was attending his car owner / Sponsors funeral. The issue was not that the touring teams didn't come out, it was the lack of local participation. Rightfully so with the 360 Knoxville Nationals running I do not think that this could of been unexpected for this event. Still sounds like it was a great race. Grain Valley looks like they have rallied the locals to come out and beat the USAC National guys with a expected contingency of 20 cars + or -. add in the 12 USAC Nation Teams (Hopefully Damian will be back) there should be 30+ for tonights event and another fantastic show. It would appear that about 1/2 the Belleville field is made up of drivers that also run non-winged 410 sprints...which was taking place less than 100 miles from Eagle.

I think that was USAC`s whole purpose was to screw up the Belleville midget nationals and they pretty much did so, so good job fan friendly USAC. And the problem was no local teams supported this.......WHATEVER! I had a huge concern where they were going to get enough cars to put on a show with the midgets and 360 nationals---- but boy I bet it was still $20 to get in to watch a feature that looked more like a heat race.

Did USAC not get the sanction for Belleville this year?

Last 2 years....Belleville kicked the crooked basturds out after they kept running shows against Belleville which kept quite a few of the big timers back in Indiana. Then they finally gave in and USAC starts running sprint car shows on friday night when Belleville was running the midgets. Be a cold day in hell before I EVER go see a USAC event again.

Really is a shame to see all 3 of these events on the same weekend. It would be nice to see the sanctioning body that is called USAC pull its head out of its ass and realize it damaged not only their own midwest swing, but one of the greatest events, the Midget Nationals. Wouldn't it be great for those that live in the midwest to have these events on different weekends so maybe, just maybe, we could go to all 3 great events if we wanted?? That just makes too much sense, what was I thinking...

Ummm, when belleville was usac sanctioned, usac was in belleville, so they were not running shows against belleville. Their midget, sprint, and silver crown races never conflict, so drivers can run all three series. If drivers stayed in Indiana it was to race locally, not with usac, so I have no idea what you are talking about. I do agree that usac should not have scheduled a race during belleville this year, but usac never had shows that conflicted with their own usac show in belleville.

The last year USAC was in Belleville they ran a sprint or silver crown race at Newton Iowa on friday night of the midgets in Belleville....BEFORE USAC got Belleville you could always count a USAC event somewhere and Im thinkin it was at IRP. Might not have been on saturday night but it made it damn tough to get from here to there without a plane.

And of these drivers at Eagle, just how many would/might have been at Bellville?????

1. Bryan Clauson, 7, Tucker/BCI/Curb-Agajanian-13.293; 2. Justin Grant, 71P,
Phillips-13.376; 3. Kevin Thomas, Jr., 9K, BlackJack-13.449; 4. Jon Stanbrough,
21x, Roberts/Tate-13.461; 5. Chase Stockon, 32, Stockon-13.475; 6. Dave Darland,
11, Walker-13.487; 7. Hunter Schuerenberg, 35, Byram-13.506; 8. Robert Ballou,
81, MPHG-13.553; 9. Levi Jones, 20, Stewart/Curb-Agajanian-13.593; 10. Tracy
Hines, 4, Hines-13.616; 11. Chad Boespflug, 69, Dynamics-13.658; 12. Stu Snyder,
21s, RHS-13.967; 13. Jeff Lowery, 45, Lowery-14.186; 14. Roger Sluka, x29,
Sluka-14.433; 15. Brandon Stevenson, 0, Stevenson-14.465; 16. Joe Boyles, 4F,
Boyles-15.240

Pobably Clauson, Hines, Darland, Jones and thats it.Yeah USAC really killed the car count at Bellville!

The track demands on motors has more to do with it than anything. Where were all of the POWRi and Badger Guys. Didn't want to destroy a motor.

Cant do that---be doing the fans a favor as far as USAC is concerned....one thing that Belleville does miss about USAC is where the churches served the hamburgers there was always several over weight USAC officals eating up the burgers so that had to take a toll on the church booth $$$$$$.

USAC did not Sanction Belleville Last year the NCRA did. Same as this year. The last time USAC had Bellevile 2010 the only thing close on the callender to Bellevile was the Non-Wing Nationals at Knoxville which was the day after Belleville. The Silver Crown race at Newton was May 22 BTW the same sanctioning body at Belleville sanctioned the Late Models that were racing last night at Eagle with the USAC sprints!

Clauson and Hines for sure Darland would of been a question mark and Jones doubtful as the team he is driving for is down on engines. The funny thing is that the majority of participants are USAC racers and yet USAC gets the blame for "ruining" The Nationals". Where are the teams from POWRI ? Badger ? RMMA ? ARDC? BCRA? I would say thank God for the USAC participants who made there way to Belleville to try to keep this traditional event afloat while the other series participants well just stayed home. Part of the challenge that USAC has it has to keep it's Sprint car series competitors happy as the majority of them do not own midget and could really care less about protecting a midget race no matter how important we (midget owners) think it is. We (sprint car owners) begged USAC to add as many races as they could when they had us on the road to help offset the cost of travel and to their credit they have done just that, what was once a 1 day or 2 races in three day trip to Iowa has now been expanded to 7 races in 9 days including races in NE, MO, IA, and MI. IF you want to place blame on the demise of Belleville place it on the 100's of midgets that are sitting in the garage this weekend, not on a sanctioning body who's main participants are the ones who are there giving mouth to mouth to the grand ol lady who is on her deathbed. Sounds like 30 ish cars tonight at Grain Valley and I will bet it will be the saturday night race that everyone will be talking about tomorrow morning if last years event is any indication. Tim Clauson
