Video I saw seemed to show Darrah jumped out of his car during the red and ran to pull Dollansky out of his car when it caught fire. Much respect for the guy after seeing that.
Video didn't show how fire started or why fire crew didn't react faster than Darrah did. I'm guessing after Dollansky crashed they were pushing or towing him to pits for repairs and tank came loose and probably caught fire on hot brake rotor?
Anyone who was their know more?
Regardless, huge props to the guy leading the race to think of a competitor's safety over his own. And between a Kahne guy and Dollansky nonetheless.

The video is misleading. The part when Craig wrecked on turn 4 in the video was actualy from Craigs first wreck.Craig was able to come back out. The Fire was from his second wreck on the BS.( don't think they noticed something from the first wreck)Craig was in the rear of the field. Something in the rear broke sending him in into the inside guard rail on the BS. The red came out. Darrarh and the rest of the field comming upon the accident scene stopped on BS. Darrah noticed the fire way before anyone else. (Keep in mind they had just stopped for the red). No sooner did Darrah stop he Got out and ran to Craig telling him to get out. Darrah saw the fire before the track crew could even get to Craig.

fire man and flag man at the scene never even knew the car was on fire they thought Cody was coming over to fight and tried to restrain him instead of helping get Craig out of harm

It was right in front of me. The backend of the car was facing the outer wall and the tank had ruptured. After the crash, there were some sparks toward the rear, and it was easy to assume the methanol lit, which usually burns clear. The safety crew couldn't tell the fire until they moved around the back of the car. Darrah happened to have a similar view to the back stretch, and saw that it was probably going to start burning and went to get him. Smart move by the kid.

Very commendable move by Cody to jump out and go to help another driver.
Thanks for posting the link SLINK.

After spending almost $10000.00 to train these guys they still messed it up!! And to hear the chatter on the radio as they called the security, talked about penalizing for getting out of car. aggressive at the car. He actually was the first to Craig.

maybe people will stop giving Cody a hard time now. probably not. their own insecurities are too much to deal with head on, I suppose. anyway, I'd like to mention at this time that he led the entire race (is that correct?) against some of the best sprint car drivers in the world. GOOD JOB CODY!

I'm glad Cody won as well, and love to see him shut all the idiotic morons up who don't have a clue from time to time. But, that track was terrible on Saturday night and was basically like watching a 410 freight train. It has been like this all year at the Grove and many other tracks as well. I know the weather isn't helping, but they need to get their shit together as far as track prep. Lincoln must be doing it right because every race I've been to this year was awesome. So why can't other tracks step it up a notch?

I'm a little confused , what did the fire crew do wrong ????? When they arrived on the seen they immediately started putting out the fire. Alcohol fires aren't the easiest things to put out especially as its running across a race track.

Actually the first official and fire crew guy on the scene are more worried about "stopping" Darrah than putting out any fire. They thought Darrah wanted to fight and were more concerned with that. Hell, they didn't even know that the cart was on fire in the rear of the car, which Cody did know. You can see by the video that they are more concerned pushing Cody away from Dollansky than putting out a fire that they did not even know was happening. The second "wave" of fire crew were actually the ones who started to put out the fire, and NOT THE OFFICAL AND FIRE CREW MEMBER WHO WERE PUSHING CODY BACK FROM CRAIG. One of these days "ego" at the track is gonna get somebody hurt when the officials and safety crew are too concerned with what they percieve as "fights and a ruckus" when actually drivers more concerned with safety matters and are on top of what is happening than the ones who are supposed to be on top of the situation as it is happening?

Yeah.. I was amazed to see the first track responders not even carrying a fire extinguisher.. I would have though that was a mandatory thing to have with them at all times !
I saw the brake rotor sparking ( it must have been alight as the car was stopped) and saw Cody jump from his car and figured he could see more than us as he had the vatgae point of being right behind him.
Kudo's to Cody. It sure was an interesting night with big hits and "made up rules" during the night. ( Single file due to track conditions BS !!)

Should he or should not be in the Kahne car, or punched that punk in Knoxville, is just chatter. Seeing him run towards Dollansky tells me all I need to know. Good man, not kid, Man. Whether or not he makes NASCAR, or ever wins another feature, he just gained a fan.
