Some excuse about the race not being televised. Considering all of the other nonsense to come out of that track over the last few years (rubber down hot laps for the Outlaws, rain outs when it never rains, canceling Friday races when it rains on Tuesday and is sunny the rest of the week, 45 cars for 4 divisions, etc) I'd bet "no tv" was the best excuse that they could think of. Chico used to be a great track, but not anymore.

ASCS Should of had the race in Watsonville; at Ocean Speedway; on the best 1/4 mile in the State.
I would like to see the ASCS National Tour guys at the hardest track to win a 360 race west of Knoxville.

It is better that they cancelled it than run a one lane on the bottom sh_t show because the only one around who could make the track good is running placerville only now. I wonder if that track has had two groove racing this year becasue I know Chico hasn't and probably won't come gold cup time. TV excuse is just one they havn't used yet and they couldn't use weather again, although they probably thought about it because there was a cloud in the sky over Chico yesterday.

Tulsa, Oklahoma (July 17, 2012) Due to circumstances beyond the control of the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MAVTV races scheduled for July 27, 2012 at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, California have been canceled.
The Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MAVTV was in no way involved in any advance sale tickets for this event. Any issues or concerns need to addressed with the management of Silver Dollar Speedway.
advanced ticket sales?
Ascot was the greatest of all time..
West Capital wasn't half bad either..

I'm willing to bet that that (or the lack there of) is the reason behind the cancellation......

Given Chico's track conditions this year, they should be happy the event isn't on tv. I'll give my $40 (two tickets) to P'Ville, Hanford or Santa Maria, instead.

FYI track conditions at Chico have been much improved over the last two months. JA was turning 11.3 second laps in heat races last week and the track was still really good all the way through all 5 divisions features. Yall are just so hostile...

Will the Gold Cup be televised this year?
If not, are they going to cancel it?

Just a bunch of horse crap from a track that has gone down hill fast. Need to get a promoter back in their. Guys go half way around the country and get canceled 10 days prior. Bet they knew that was going to happen.

Unfortunately SDS has earned those sentiments. It will need to keep improving before they earn back my support. I was a loyal customer since the 70's and just can't defend that place anymore. From what I've seen they can't lure a full main event field in any weekly class these days. I should hope they can prepare a track to last the night with so few race cars on it. Nationally, people may think of Chico's SDS as NorCal's premier sprint car venue but most Californian's know better. It is way down my list of tracks I expect to see great racing at in California. I do hope they can turn it around with a decent Gold Cup in 2012 but I wouldn't bet on it.
That said, I am looking forward to the ASCS show at Placerville and the replacement booking at Kings Speedway in Hanford on 7/28/12.

Running 11 second laps does not indicate a quality track with multiple grooves. Every one of Doyle's videos are evidence that there is no one on the top of the track anymore, or at least no one who wants to win, because the top is gone and the track is a one lane peice of crap. I want to support SDS but I can't give Gage my money any more because I know I will only leave disappointed, again! I'm not being hostile, I don't want to see SDS go away which is exactly what will happen if things continue as they are.

They havent improved it is still bottom lane racing like it has been all year or dry slick.I went last Friday and they had 5 divisions sprints had 19 cars and the other divisions had 6 cars or less exciting mains not! Sprints was bottom grove only.It is getting harder for me to keep supporting the track no passing!

I will give Chico one more try at the Goldcup. If it is another horrendous track, I won't go back again. As for the condition of the track this year, it's not worth the 3 hour drive each way.

I'm looking forward to the outlaw shows at Antioch and Calistoga more than the Gold Cup.

I am usually not one to complain but after a horrible race at the Mini Gold Cup I have very little desire to go back to Silver Dollar! I mean the most boring A main I have ever been to and I have been going to races for over 25 years!!! Years ago Chico was one of the best tracks around but now the track is mostly one groove racing. I am going to skip Gold Cup this year and I am really looking forward to going to the Antioch WoO race. Last year the Antioch race was awesome and they packed the place even on a Monday night when the Raiders were playing! Antioch is actually one of my favorite tracks now and has greatly improved the last few years. Chico needs a major overhaul or they will loose all their fans...
Looking forward to the new Golden State King of the
West series schedule!

Went to the Bradway and after all the effort the KWS series put in to promote the race the stands
looked about 1/3 full. Track was pretty good that night with top and bottom racing in 3 & 4.
The Civil War fair race had a packed grandstand with all the fair goers getting in free, 40+ cars,
and the track was terrible follow the leader around the bottom racing. A great opportunity to
show case the sport to new fans and they blew it. Last years Gold Cup had no passing in the top 5
either night. Can they move the Gold Cup to Ocean?
