Just an FYI. Today, Marion County was put under a burn ban due to the dry weather, so no open campfires.
Looking at hte forecast, I doubt the ban will be rescinded anytime prior to Nationals....

So, what you are saying is that it will not rain a drop until the first Wednesday of the Nationals. And then rain every day until the 14th and never rain again until sometime in September. I've seen this before but lived in Iowa at the time, this year I'm coming from Germany, I hope it is hot as hell and a bit more dry.

It can't get much hotter than it has been (or more dry).
I'd say even if we get 2-3 inches of rain a week every week leading up to the Nat's, that the burn ban will still be in effect (that's how dry it's been).

Iowa State Fire Marshal says, "small recreational camp fires are OK but must be in an outdoor fireplace built of bricks, metal or screen mesh."
