The new track at Dennison is very racey since its reconfiguration. All you Knoxville cars, come race with the MW 305 cars for a purse that is almost double of what Knoxville's is.

still haven't figured out what your problem with kville is....

Glad the 305's are racing for good $$$, but remember that when the purses got larger for the 360's back in the 80's, that's when the costs started getting out of control too....

I have no problem with Knoxville. Knoxville is the BEST sprintcar race track in our nation! Wish it was closer, as I would be there every Saturday. (200miles, one way) Love the 305"...lets keep them affordable. JMO

305 9a may not have a problem with knoxville..but i sure do ..knoxville had the chance to join the burlington and the midwest 305 guys with rule changes that could have kept the costs down last off season ..but they decided to go with the dry sump systems and ported cylinder heads ..and like it or not the facts are ...that 25% of the 305 guys that were there last season have already quit ...let us hope that by season end we can get some more people intrested in running next year in the start up division

sprintergal, I know that the 2010 MidWest 305 sprintcar champion & 2011 Knoxville raceway "360 Rookie of the Year", Casey Freidrichsen will be there with his old team. Bart Friedrichsen will also be there along with the current crop of MW 305 drivers. Should be a great show.

Knoxville has let the cost go through the roof for the 305s. Was told by one Knoxville team they have 18,000 in motor, and you call that an entry level affordable sprint racing option!!!!!. Thanks to Buington and Midwest series to run affordable rules .

Just because 1 person has that much in a motor doesn't mean all of them do. I would bet there are more of them less than $12K than there are over. Mine is less than $10K

That's good, but the point is I highly doubt that the race saver engine at 7000 is gonna be very competitive at Knoxville because of the rules and crazy amount of money thrown at these cars. This class went from affordable to stupid expensive. You can't expect more cars to come to Knox when the price of competitiveness has gone through the roof. Not what was supposed to happen with the 305 class.

No, the racesaver motor probably wouldn't be a front runner at Knoxville, I don't know that for a fact but just from what I have seen in their rules, the heads are a limiting factor compared to Knoxville. But why would you build a racesaver motor for Knoxville? They run aluminum heads, Knoxville is steel only...

As far as the "competitive price has gone through the roof", if a $12K motor is through the roof, don't price a 360....We ran a 360 for 10 years, the 305 is no where even close to the cost of a 360. Not even close....So compared to the other options (360 or 410), the 305 class is a VERY affordable option to someone wanting to race sprints.

I am not trying to argue with you, we have ran a 360 and a 305 for numerous years. I am speaking from my experience, yours may be different?? For us, the 360's are just completely out of hand as far as motor cost goes. 305's could be headed down the same path, but for now, they are the cheap way to go.

Teams will spend what their budget allows them to spend.

No one is holding a gun to anyone's head telling them to spend $18,000 on a 305. If their budget allows them to, no rule is ever going to keep them from spending their $$. You limit the motor to a crate, they'll spend the $$ on making sure they have new tires, wheels, frame, rear end, etc., etc., etc..

I highly doubt anyone running the 305 class at Knoxville this year has a ton of $$ in their motors (compared to what they COULD be putting into it). Some have spent their budget $$ on graphics, wings, tires, etc. while others have focused their budget $$ on their motors instead.

It's no different than the 360 or 410 class. Some guys have a ton of $$ wrapped up in new frames, lightweight pieces (and then bolt on weight), but their motors aren't strong enough to run top 10.

Hope the 305s don't head down that road. Appreciate your insight. Thanks
