I'm certain racers have complained about Lanny since the day after he had his first show in Lawton.

Back when race cars didn't look like one another, they had a following of their own. They were individuals just like the drivers. I CANNOT TELL ONE DOWNTUBE FRAME FROM ANOTHER. I can tell the differance between a Parsons and a Walker.

I miss '55-'57 Chevies as stockers. How hard is it to pop a fiberglass copy on a modern day modified frame?

I love the sound of a V8 class taking the start in the third turn on the half mile at OkC.

I love the red clay at Lawton. WHEN it's red in memory as well as in person.

Racing as an entertainment value is a lot like music. Pay too much attention to the science yet little to the magic, and people will forget why they were under a spell in the first place.

Safety and speed are important, but so are shape, color, and showmanship. The keys are there between promoters and teams.

I'll wait and tell you what I really think after this sinks in a little. If you're interested and if I care too. I love dirt racing but like Ole Hoss said, "we need a change".

I think your on the right track here. One thing that i think needs to change is getting people invovled. How can one make changes to make this sport on the local level more appealing to the general public? Getting people involved is a great way to promote and make this thing grow. If it grows, maybe some $$$ will come with that growth. Just some more to chew on from me.

That's part of the idea here. If they like it so much they can't help themselves, there is no problem with involvement.

Charity only goes so far, but a need goes further.

Couldn't agree more. As long as we're being controversial, howz this: there are too many classes. Everything is diluted. Prize money, glory, fan's attention. Two classes or at most three.

I know that today's promoters depend on the back gate to pay the bills, but I do think it hurts the show.

OK , I'll contribute: To race back then you needed Determination, Sweat, Blood (at times), Heart, Hard Work, and a Desire to make it all work, to race today all you need is a Credit Card and a Cell Phone and racing can begin as soon as the UPS , Fed Ex, DHL man arrives.

Would like to see when races are events again, like the NCRA gatherings use to be. Anymore it is just another night and a circle of dirt, a grind so to speak, not much imagination or anticipation but hell I still attend the grind, so cannot say much else on this subject.

Remember when open trailers were the norm and you pulled up and unloaded your car and had no choice but to see your temporary neighbor next to you be it in your class or another, now with the enclosed trailers you and your driver and crew can isolate themselves from the rest of your competitors and fans if they chose so, I am guilty as charged on this point since the middle of May as I now pull a box down the road. Grant it don't have to worry about something falling off the trailer and security is a little bette r but you can keep the Mingling to minimum if I chose to do so.

Last point: Would like to see them bring back the old Firestone ,Goodyear Diamond Right Rears, the ones that were harder than a Minister's D***, They did not build heat until the second half of a 50 lap race, might make the last half of the race somewhat more interesting.

I am done.

There's another for you. How many of us miss those 40 or 50 lap mains? I sure do. Wasn't it just a couple years ago that the big late model feature was trimmed to 25? That sucked. A big-time race should be at least 30 but more like 40 or 50 laps. Twenty five lap mains don't make a "special event" for me.

Amen NW Bill & Brian !!!!

Sorry, but 15 or 20 lap features on a small track like OKC's do very little to attract new race fans. I fully understand that 20 laps is a standard length feature and has been for years. But a casual race fan who only watches on TV does not. Is a longer A feature out of the question for a special event once in a while? I have been going to races around this state awhile, since 1969-1970 & I remember some 50 lappers on many special occasions. July 4th,etc. Is it because of the single track now or what ??Less laps means less wear & tear on the track ??? I know I am in the minority, but I miss the 1/2 mile. Seeing WoO 4-abreast on the 1/2 mile before the start is something sadly we will never see again . I would love to see an ASCS national event or late models on the half mile.

I think the sprints should run 25 lap features. Like tonight for instance.......18 cars for a super sprint b main. thye split the mods up into 2 b's......i thought that was a good thing.......why not the sprints as well? I'll tell you why.........b/c Lanny wanted to have another one of those damn 10 minute hot dog breaks. I understand he wants to make money.......but it shouldn't be at the expense of the show. Now granted it was one hell of a b-feature......but I think it cheated those drivers with high point totals that had to start in the back. Ya'll may not agree with those reasons........but I;d hope most would agree they should have run 2 b's.

speaking of the sprint races. congrats to Joe Wood Jr. who I think just proved again why he's definitely one of.....if not THE.....best sprint driver out there. a lil less bad luck and just a tad bit more consistency and he's gonna win some championships.......and if he can ever get some sponsors behind him......we're gonna watch him kick ass and take names at a lot of venues. He's definitely got the talent. that was one of the best driving clinics I've seen this year.....although Danny Jennings has a few to his credit as well.

And speaking of Jack Claxton and great announcers. I'm convinced that this sort of talent runs in the family as I always thought Randy Ward a great announcer and think his brother has done an excellent job in recent weeks as well. And if I thought I'd seen a lot in my 25 years ...which I now are comparatively few........I have NEVER seen an announcer climb halfway up a pole....a pretty tall one too......and announce a sprint car race from there. That had to take some balls......or insanity.......both come along with youth.lol. It's not like he was at the top on a platform.......the dude was just hangin of the side.........that kid is full of enthusiasm. I'm sold. Hope he announces for some time to come. And maybe the next time Randy comes to announce he won't bring a whole buch of rain with him.
