What's the deal? People forgetting how to prep a track. Hot weather? Not digging it up before water?
Lincoln, Big Diamond, Grandview and Hagerstown all SUCKED for Speedweeks so far. Especially Grandview Tuesday night. Biggest crowd that place ever had, too bad it was the worst track conditions that track ever had for a 410 race. People paid $22 to see whose right rear could last the longest.

And then the promoters will wonder why crowds are down. Get your biggest crowd ever, put on a good show on a well prepped track and you may make regulars out of some of those fans. Give them a crap show on a crap track and you will probably never seem a lot of them again!

Big Diamond got dusty, but at least it wasn't black at all and locked down choo choo on the bottom...Montieth ran middle/top, and Dietrich was runnin' the top mostly and was puttin' on a show runnin' the #21 down 3 times until the caution killed what was shaping up to maybe be the move to make the pass and get the lead for the win all 3 times.

Let me guess... They had 3-4 support classes with one class being tuners and the heat races went till near 10PM alone and the track was dry by then. Yes, those support classes bring in family fans but so would 30-50 kids in tights dancing for 45-60 minutes at half time of a football game. At some point you would realize it was affecting the attendance of actual fans who are there to watch the football. Support classes have a placeholder and add some filler. Letting them balloon to 40-60 cars and a B & A feature that takes 45-75 minutes to get through because of the “cat herding” drives racing fans away. And I mean the fans that have come every weekend for 15-25 years, They sit at the top in lawn chairs and record heat race finish order, etc. Those are the lifetime fans that you don’t want to loose. But yes, track conditions have degraded. I dont think guys prepping have forgot how but the car count variables have became huge to prep for.

Missed Lincoln but I heard the track and the race was good. H-town didn't have a support division and the track was junk from the time the first hotlap session started. That just shows complete lack of track preparation. It did get better throughout the night as the rubber groove grew wider but they couldn't have been going more than 20 in the middle of the turns. Big Diamond's problem isn't for lack of track prep. It's whatever is in the make up of the clay/dirt. They can be flying around the cushion and setting lap records there and it's still dusty as hell. I believe they do the best they can with what they have to work with.

Bingo. These promoters think they are ready to have a race if the lights come on and they have enough hot dogs in the fridge. All this lack of track prep is saving me a lot of money. Hagerstown is like watching an old friend die. What a shame.
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

As far as Hagerstown goes, Frank needs to take up golf instead of piddling around The Capital during the week and leave the track prep to the guys who have proven just 6 weeks ago that they know what they are doing....

Funny, I was ridiculed about commenting about Hagerstown being a dusty track a couple weeks back turns out I might be right at least 50% of the time.
Cheers!

Track prep at Hagerstown for the WoO show was done by SLS Promotions Larry Hillirud and not by Hagerstown, Larry, a former racer turned promoter who time in and time out works the track to give the cars a great surface to compete on; they give the concessions to the track so they do not have to worry about hot dog sales, just good oul fashioned sprint car racing the RIGHT WAY!

Well I'm guessing that temps in the high 90's low 100's, high humidity, and blazing sun the last week or so have had absolutely no bearing on the reason tracks have been dry and dusty???

Factually incorrect...The owner was in Charolotte, NC for the NASCAR race and the gentleman who should be given the task weekly did the prep work...Try again...

Was just at cedar lake last night, it's been 100 degrees out here for 5 days straight. The track wasn't great, but it definitely wasn't the disaster Hagerstown seemed to be. Effort means a lot when it comes to track prep.

Hagerstown wasn't a disaster...No blown motors, popped tires, dust or cautions in the A-main...
