I believe that it was on pavement because of which Wolfgang had his horrific fire from sparks and such because of the surface. I think it was

in Kansas City.

My wife told me if I went to one more Sprint Car race
she would leave me.................I'm sure gonna miss
that ol' gal.

Charlotte County Speedway in Punta Gorda, FL. Late 80's or very early 90's. In addition to pavement, it was also combined with the All Stars with points for both series. Very impressive racing by the dirt guys. Would like to see the WoO run pavement again.

Is it not bad enuff that they degrade a sprint car by grafting a wing to it without wishing them to race on pavement? Opp fan ya gotta be Posse, no reasonable sprint car fan anywhere else in this great country of sound mind would imagine such a travesty! wink

LOL Offie. As bad as a lot of the dirt racing is now pavement may be the way to go for better racing. We see the Knoxville bunch on here bemoaning the quality of their racing and track conditions. Maybe it would be best to pave Knoxville Raceway. I'd be more interested in going back to the Knoxville Nationals to see how the top sprint racers would do on pavement. It might even bring Knoxville up close to the quality of the Little 500 at Anderson, Indiana! The Little 500 should be a WoO points race. Offie, I can't believe that a non-wing guy like you doesn't go to the Little 500. It's wingless. LOL

P.S. Thanks for recognizing that Posse fans and racing are the best.

WoO at Flemington was in 1989 or 1990, but the track was still dirt then. Low car count, little passing.....

Michael, thanks for posting those old results. I loved reading them. I have a few comments about those results:

The first year Flemington (N.J.) was paved, they scheduled what was supposed to be a 30-lap feature for winged 410s during their big DIRT Modified 200 weekend in late October. Anyway, the race attracted only nine or 10 cars, one of which was Frankie Kerr. Nearly the entire rest of the field was a collection of low-dollar 358 drivers. The race was changed from a 30-lapper to twin 15s, due to the small car count. I know Frankie lapped the field in the first 15-lapper , and I don't remember anymore whether or not he did the same in the second race.

I don't know why, but I have no recollection of Dave Blaney in the Weikert car. That must have been a short-lived relationship. LOL

I am from Pennsylvania, but I always rooted for Lee Brewer Jr. to do well after talking with him at Knoxville maybe around 1994 or '95. It was the year he put the WiIlliams car out of California in the Saturday night A-main and a couple friends and I spent probably about an hour talking with him Saturday afternoon. He told us how thrilled he was to make the Saturday night A feature. Now Lee Brewer I do remember having short stint in the Weikert car. LOL

Totally awesome, to see history that is so well documented.  Do you  know how many races the WoO sprints ran on pavement?

And yes, it would be wonderful to read other pavement race finishes.

Thanks so much for sharing and for keeping great records

I saw all of those pavement WOO races and they had about as much passing as they have had at Knoxville the last couple of years. Been going back to Indiana sprint weeks the last couple of years and the races with sprints without the hog shed roofs are far better, three and four wide in the corners and a lot of passing. After watching these races I didn't renew my Knoxville tickets and the only thing I think we will miss are the really nice people we have met thru the years. Everyone have fun at the races of your choice. I would still rather see a bad car race than a good baseball game. Bud
