Dominic Bruns Memorial Features Tight Racing At Jackson Speedway The fourth annual Dominic Bruns Memorial Races returned to the Jackson Speedway’s historic half-mile on the Jackson County Fairgrounds June 30. With the IMCA Stock Cars racing for extra purse monies to help promote awareness of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SID), drivers from the “Class Too Tough To Tame” also ventured into the grandstands during intermission to pass the helmet to raise extra funds for SID research, through the generosity of Jackson Speedway’s fans. The evening’s races, sponsored by Houseman Oil Company/Riverside Sinclair of Estherville and Ziegler CAT Ag Equipment of Jackson, drew a field of 93 cars for the Bruns Memorial. The feature race winners on the night were Jason Shidelar in the Sport Compacts, Cory Probst in the Hobby Stocks, Derrik Lusk in the 305 Sprint Class, Jason Andrews in the Sport Modified class, Skylar Prochaska in the 360 Sprints and Jake Masters winning the Dominic Bruns Memorial Stock Car feature. Heat race wins went to Jason Shindelar and Tony Salmon in the Sport Compacts; Dustin Nehring, Drew Bargloff and John Briggs taking the heat wins in the Hobby Stocks. Bill Boles earned the A&W Trucking 305 Sprint car heat victory, with Tom Brown, Danny Myrvold and Matthew Looft winning in the Sport Modified heats. The 360 sprint heat went to Lou Kennedy Jr. of Winnepeg, Manitoba Canada and in the IMCA Stock Car class, heat race wins went to Jeffrey Larson, Dustin Larson, Jim Larson and Jake Masters in the Stock Cars. Feature victories went to Nate Coopman in the Sport Compacts, Justin Nehring in the Hobby Stocks, Jason Andrews in the Sport Modifieds and Bill Boles in the 305 Sprints. Feature wins also were recorded by Luke Sathoff in the Stock Cars and Skylar Prochaska in the 360 Championship. The racing action on Saturday, July 7 will be highlighted by the second visit of the IMCA Northstar Racing Series to Jackson Speedway, with sponsorship from Jackson Sports and Tom Finke Excavating.
