I was at hilltop speedway Saturday June 2nd for one of the two sprint car shows for the year. I've been going to taxes since the early nineties when my dad starting taking me to the old Sharon speedway and Lernerville. Since then I have never seen such a poorly run face track as hilltop was on Saturday, not even close. The stands were packed as well which makes me wonder, what do they spend their money on? Its not track prep equipment, damn sure ain't the flag man. Hilltop is a beautiful, fast race track with a good fan base... What a shame. Somebody please whip this place into shape. If that would have been the speed week show which comes in two weeks, they would never have the all stars or any sprint sanctioning body show up again.

Just curious what was your problem with the track management?

That they don't have enough equipment.

I went to Hilltop a few years back, and thought it was a neat place. Unforunately, I left after about 15 laps of the A-Main because I couldn't see anything. It was possibly the worst dust-storm I've ever seen.

A few days later, I was able to watch the race on HighVista or one of the other sprint websites, and it looked like a great race that no-one was able to see.

I was there Saturday night and I would say that the track was the fastest I have ever seen it. I also would say that there was NO dust anywhere!!! The only problems I could see was the hole in turn 3 and 4, and that running 6 classes of cars/trucks.

The rain was a problem but they worked it out and ran the show. I personally like to go and see only 3 to 4 classes a night. Im a winged sprint car fan but understand that other people like other stuff too. Yes, I go to Attica and Fremont all the time but look forward to travel to other track. I hope that for the SpeedWeek they would only have one other class of cars and run the races as fast as possible. I know a lot of people that drive 1-2 hours for speedweek and still need to be at work the next morning. So if Hilltop can start and finish the races during speedweek by 10 or so I and a lot of other people would love it.

Thats my 2 cents!!!

I can't believe that nobody has said anything about the brawl between Shawn Hubler and Andrew Palker. That was worth the long ass push trucks gettin stuck, push truck runnin over a car turn 4 wash out, longest night I have ever seen! The dude gets pinched by Palker, breaks a front ends up just off the track in the infield, gets out of the car race stays green, (it shouldn't have) Wads up a mud clod, chucks it at Palker, Palker takes out the leader and 2nd, ends up against a tractor tire, Where Hubler has his way with him. This was TOTALLY worth 10 bucks. I wasnt goin to go for speedweek, but now i think i have to. Maybe a deer or a grizzly bear might end up on the track and I would miss it. Yeah its not the best run joint in the country, but hats off to our great sprint car drivers for putting on a hell of a show!
