On speed Tony said a Sprinter is harder to drive than a Nascar or Indy car. Very interesting as he drove all 3 types.
I tell it like I see it.

I loved his Quote a few years back..." Nascar pays for my sprint car habit."

Talked to him about Sprints at the the Nationals in 2010. He will always drive one unless Nascar tries to stop them from doing it. It is his favorite ride and he said the same thing Kasey said at Beaver Dam one year. It is nice to race and walk around the pits without being molested for autographs and be able wrench a car.
I tell it like I see it.

Well he don't know what the hell he is talking about!!! I know I have heard from some of the EXPERTS on this very forum before that these Winged Sprint cars are so stuck to the ground that ANYONE can drive one as long as the set up is good! What the hell is this 3X Nascar Champion, 4 Crown Winner, Indianapolis 500 thinking!!!!

They may stick, but it takes one big hairy set of stones to run it into the corner fast enough to make it stick.
May the down force be with you.

I like the thread and point... but we're selling him a little short comparing Indycars, stock cars & winged sprints.
What HASN'T Smoke driven? Top of my head: tq midgets, midgets, traditional sprints, silver crown, late models and who knows what else. Modifieds of all types I'll bet.
His opinion should carry as much weight, if not more, on this topic than anyone on the planet. Sammy has driven pretty much everything as well (I've seen him in a midget, late model and champ dirt car in addition to his forte'). The King; definitely NASCAR, IROC, Indy... he would have an idea as well.
Go SMOKE.

Methinks that Tony is referring to sprint cars and not winged sprint cars. . . . .

then why did he make the comment at a winged race when they were comparing outlaw sprint cars, cup cars and indy cars?
he was asked, out of the three, which is harder.
to indy and beyond!!

Me thinks you didn't watch the broadcast. I believe Tony specifically mentioned winged cars.
