Doty gives every excuse possible to protect Swindell. Hope someone but Sammy wins tonight and I enjoy seeing him race but tonight is ridiculous !!!!

You are 100% correct, by Doty's reasoning you could wreck anyone because you "didn't see them because there are no rear view mirrors". Get a new commentator, SPEED.

I agree. Love Doty but that made Doty look and sound dumb. Not much respect either for the pit reporter for being a softball with Sammy. How can you resist saying "Come on Sammy, you drove right into both of them and you really think it's their fault?"

The slide job Was a big Erorr on Sammy's part
But the deal w cody was a racing deal the car hooked on the right rear and went up the track
Doty is just calling it how he sees it no matter who is at fault
He's probably forgot more about a sprint car than the average fan will ever know
It's not if! It's when and how bad

Thank you I'm not a swindell fan but I will call a spade a spade no matter who is involved
I guess if you don't understand a sprint car it wouldn't have been obvious

To Desflur's post, I did not make an excuse when Swindell took out McMahon and I called it a bad slide job and that I thought it was definately his fault. But with Darrah's crash it wasn't so cut and dried.
Swindell was in front of him and Cody tried to squeeze back around on the outside at about the sametime Swindell hit a rut and the his car bounced high and they got together. Even some of Darrah's own crew didn't totally blame Swindell!!!
To mwislaski, not sure if you ever drove a sprint car but there is a point when you can't see somone on your right rear, but I never said it's an excuse to crash somone! Things happen so fast on the racetrack and sometimes drivers make mistakes.
Been a long day gone to bed! Good night everyone!
Brad Doty

haters will hate. some fans have to be on a hate bandwagon. show me a driver that has never hit someone and i will show you a back marker who has never won. I just hope Sammy quit sliding in points and gets back up there and dont leave the road.

I'll call a spade a spade. Brad Doty is a legendary racer and commentator. He has been nice enough to post here.
Some people would throw their mother to the wolves.

I agree. We all know when a car hits a rut with the right rear and straightens the car out, the car is going to move up the hill, it's physics.

Brad Doty is great for the sport of sprint car racing. Very good color commentator, does a great job explaining things to the average fan. With that said i would of liked to see speed and Doty make Sammy more of the villain but on those double file restarts its free game once the leader starts. I do think Sammy was in the wrong but that easy to say from my coutch. Sammy knew he had to pass Darrah to make the dash and that's what He was going to do no matter how he had to go about doing so.
On the other hand that was one of the best "TV races" I have seen in a long time. Having Ralph Sheheen back to call the race was a pleasant surprise. You could tell Speed cared about the event and good bad and ugly slide jobs all played into the drama. We need more TV races like that one last night. I hate to see anyone ever wreck but its good to see them overcome the bad situations like dollanskys charge and darrahs 5th place run. I think the sport looked good last night and sprint car racing gained some new fans, I hope. You couldn't ask for a better victory lane interview, no corporate crap just a dirty exhausted and excited Joey saldana in victory lane. He didn't need product placement with hats and his hair, he needed a shower. I was excited and hope we can get more TV races around the country, everyone on this board needs to say something positive about sprint car racing today I dare you.

You guys should back off from your criticism of Doty. At least when he posts on this board, he has the guts to sign his real name.

I absolutely agree. Brad has always been a class act and calls things as he sees them, even if he's more tactful about it than some might like him to be. It was very big of him to respond to the critcisms.
I've never driven a sprint car but I do know that I have enough respect for Brad that when he says or explains something I certainly believe he knows what he's talking about. IMHO, Brad is the best sprint car commentator ever.

First, it's comical how the general opinion shifts after he replies here. Kiss ass elsewhere.
Second, if you *really* think that this was ANYTHING other than Swindell being a dirty driver like he always has been, you need to get a clue. Doty's analysis of almost everything Swindell did would be best described as "wrong" and generously described as "inaccurate". It was a sub-par job of commentating at the absolute best.

I like Doty, but he is wrong. I appreciate that he comes on and replies, but the accident with Darrah was 100% Sammy's fault. Let's quit with the rut excuse already. I saw all the replays this rut thing is BS. Sammy jumped the start and pulled up beside Lynch because he knew he needed to get high. He drove straight up between Lynch and Darrah to forcefully take Darrah's line, and he drove straight over the front of Darrah's car in the process.
This isn't about bashing Brad. It's about Sammy. No one needs to be making up bs to defend Sammy's racing in that heat. Brad Doty included. Both moves were intentional. Both moves were dirty. And his interview afterward proved both.
Sammy said nothing about hitting a rut. His comment was basically that Cody should have hit the brakes and given Sammy his line on the track and settle for 3rd. That's all the confirmation I need that Sammy drove up on purpose.

Sorry Brad. I disagree. Most guys you might give the benefit of the doubt but not Sammy. To much history workin against him. He's earned whatever he gets. Both ways.

Amen, great analysis, your correct. I appreciate Doty and like watching Swindell but he was way to aggressive as you pointed out.
