Was sitting on the front straightaway and saw the whole thing. The video proves what I initially thought, that Jennings never even touched him. Driver's chop/pinch/slide one another all the time to maintain their positions on the track. I don't have a dog in this hunt and just was enjoying Chappell's run up to the front to give Jennings some competition, but Chappell's response was way over the top. He didn't offer much resistance to Jennings or jump out to confront him, so I wondered if his intended bump of Jennings actually went farther than what he perhaps meant to. He hit Jennings pretty hard/fast, so it's certainly hard to give Chappell the benefit of doubt that he didn't mean to put him out of the event.

Having looked at the video a few more times, I'd say it's actually inconclusive as to whether there was contact or not. At the exact point that it would have happened it's slightly out of the picture. Another angle would be nice, but I bet there ain't one.

I've seen Danny run for several years, and have respected him as a clean driver. Two weeks ago Danny ran 2nd at Lawton and the winner, Sean McClelland commented after that he appreciated Danny not taking any cheap shots at him. I don't know if any contact occured, but Zach was not stopped when the yellow came out, so he was not gonna tag the pack! Made no sense. I was there at DB and was astounded at Zach's actions. Other than that, it was a really racy track and good racin.

Nah David, im pretty sure it's a chicken shit move. But I guess that's about the only way Danny could reach Zach's nose.
I am like a fat girl at prom, just happy to be here...

Glad you enjoyed the video! No comment on what happened. i'm too busy trying to video the Sprint action! i thought that i got it all, but some of it wasn't there! the unusual thing is Zach kept his car going. i was as surprised as Danny when Zach ran into him!

Great pic and video. I think it clearly shows that Jennings was ahead by almost a full carlength going into the turn, thus it was his choice of lane. Racing deal to me and I don't blame Jennings one bit for going after Chappel in his car. I think anyone would have done the same. I can understand why Chappel was pissed as well but I think he has himself to blame more than anyone. Oh well tempers flare in the heat of the moment. it's not the first and surely won't be the last. Sometimes when you're racing or even spectating things that happen aren't exactly as they seem. It happens so fast. We've had plenty of time to look at the video and still can't agree. Those guys had less than a second.

Go back and look. IMO this happened at the very end of the front straight. Either way it doesn't matter. Jennings knows what he did and he knows what it cost him. He messed with the bull and he got the horns. Going after a guy strapped in a racecar with a helmet on isn't impressing anyone.

It occurs to me that Chappell went after a guy that was strapped in a racecar first.

$500 Bonus for Altercations on the Front Stretch. 2 Race Suspension for Altercations in the Pits.... Isn't that the Promoter's Entertainment Code of Conduct for such situations...
To me, racing accident. The cars never touched. DJ never really forced the car to the bottom either. It looked like a really smooth transition from the top to the bottom like he had a great handling car.
Looks like Zach overreacted. Maybe he hasn't won in a while, and really needed this one badly.

The best and funniest part is Jennings getting out of the car and running or I don't know what you would call that a trot or maybe even a skip or frolic. I bet you one thing though about this whole ordeal I bet you anything Zach's dad was not around for this it would have ended with a different result. I would almost go with Zach over Jennings. Hey Jennings next time don't be a bitch and try and fight someone while they are still in the car wait and confront him when he gets out of his car if you really think you can go.

Has Jennings gotten any fines or suspensions handed down by ASCS?
