I think everyone needs to quit with the whining about the format change for the Nationals on Friday night and make a decision about it on at 11:00 pm on Friday night the 10th of August. I have been going for 10 years now and a change has been needed for Friday night's format for a while. I thought last year they made an attempt with the race of champions, and although i liked it, it fell short of satisfying the majority.
The fact of the matter is, the Knoxville raceway should not be concerned about how their format change is going to affect "fairness" to the little guy. They don't need to worry about catering to every single drivers request. They need to worry about butts in the seats and they need to do whatever it takes to increase that number every year so the purse keeps going up every year.
I personally think this format will make for a buzz on Friday night that the nationals has never seen before. Think about it, there are always a dozen "big name" drivers that are in the B and C every year and now they have one more night to battle each other for an A-main spot. I think it sounds awesome.

Not all people are lucky enough to go to the Nationals. When they do I think they should go every night and savor the moment. It's the best of the best, story line after storyline played out. If you don't like it then you should welcome a change and let's see how it plays out. I will support them every night and look forward to it. Let's see how it works then all the whiners can start up .

I can't believe ANYBODY would be upset about this change. Friday went from an "exhibition" race to a cut throat night of hardcore racing with lots of strategy involved in the decision about whether or not to throw away your points and start over or stick with the hand you were dealt.
Loose is when you hit the wall with the rear of the
car, tight is when you hit the wall with the front of
the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall and
torque is how far you move the wall.

Exactly!, Im pretty confident ill like the change. the first two nights of qualifying are better than the A on Saturday, IMO. approximatly 100 hungry cars going for the W the first two nights, the chances slowly slip from the hands of the competitors and it becomes a salvage effort for $$ , (which is fine) I just like the idea of Friday holding some wieght as to Saturdays lineup , second chance? why not!, redemption is in the minds of many that dont fare so well previously, and boy, what a hell of a story if someone places well from Friday night 2nd qualie.. Good Idea Knoxville!

I love the change and something was deiffinately needed to Friday night. This should increase the crowd on both Friday and Saturday night as more people would be tempted to go for the weekend if they can't make it for the entire week.

Stoked for the new format. Like darnall said, it's going to be a cut throat night of racing! This gives guys that had bad luck a huge opportunity to make it back to Saturday and will make the A and B mains even more competitive. It's going to be so awesome!
made alive.

I like it as well....I would like to see a complete invert in the heats on Wed. and Thurs. adding 2 more laps to each heat... I have never understood why the heats can't be longer in such a big event...

In My Opinion, I guess if im not entiteled to that then we agree to disagree, what im trying to say is 80 to 100 cars run like they are going to win come hell or high water on Wednesday and Thursday, Saturday there is what, 26/24 cars with the chance to win, with the exception of the few transfer positions that are exciting to watch, dont get me wrong I like all of it, but, I would rather go to the nationals with watching the primary nights competition, rahter than not, Maybe its just me there is more storylines behind the listed entries as compaird to the center stage qualifiers for Saturday, I guess, I root for the underdogs the cinderella story is all I wish for, if not, its all still good!

good point , although "some" of the heats get strung out and there is little a competitor can do to catch a position without terminal troubles from a worthy position, I dont see anything wrong with two more laps, why not?
