BCRA WINS CIVIL WAR CHALLENGE VS CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINTS AT BAKERSFIELD!

(Placentia, CA, May 17, 2012) The Bay Cities Racing Association scored a convincing victory in the "Civil War" over the California Lightning Sprint Car Series at the Bakersfield Speedway last Saturday night. BCRA drivers took the top four spots in the 20-lap main event and they also won two of the three heat races. The top finishing driver for the CLS was 2010 series champ Jarrett Kramer of Spring Valley.

Twenty-four cars (13 CLS and 11 BCRA) signed in at the "The West's Fastest 1/3 Mile High Banked Clay Oval." The BCRA quartet of current point leader Scott Kinney, Cameron Beard, Dakota Albright and Craig Dillard were the first to the main event checkered flag. The top four finishers for the CLS were fifth place Kramer, Lomita veteran Bobby Michnowicz who finished sixth, 2011 Rookie of the Year Steve Limon of Corona who came home eighth and Anaheim Hills veteran Guy Maresch who ended up ninth.

Veteran Placentia, California racer Dan Hillberg came into the night with a comfortable 51-point lead in the CLS championship standings. However, the 51-year-old driver failed to start his heat race and the main event. By the time the night ended, Maresch was new leader in the points standings. Heading into the series' next race, the "Salute to Indy" at Perris Auto
Speedway on May 26th, Maresch leads Hillberg by 17 points. Limon jumped from seventh to third in the standings. Anaheim's Dale Gamer and Hemet teenager Alexander Bissett round out the top five.

Earlier in the night Kinney, Albright and Michnowicz won the three heat races.

The California Lightning Sprint Car Series would like to thank 2012 series sponsors Christian Stover Foundation, Rod End Supply, Sander Engineering, Saldana Race Products, DK Machining and Fabrication, Keizer Aluminum Wheels, Hoosier Racing Tires, Circle Track Performance, DJ Safety, Performance by Rosson Racing, Racing Optics, Electro Tech Powder Coating and Oil Twins Amsoil (Hard Charger Award at The PAS).
