I wonder how many dirt tracks are losing to nascar racing on weekend nights? I know people stay home and watch nascar rather than go to the races on Friday and Saturday nights. Pretty sad.
Still love husets

Not a new thought by any means and across the board in all types of racing, of course it doe's.

I for one would never pass up a sprint car race to stay home and watch a race on tv. And I'm sure there are more who think along these lines .
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

Hell no we wouldn't Randy, but we're not your average fan either, nor are most people who post regularly on this forum. Hard core is the words, hard core.

I'd rather go and watch ANY car or motorcycle races on dirt before I'd stay at home to watch NASCAR. I'd even go to the drag strip before NASCAR too but it is sad that NASCAR is competing against all forms of racing by staging Sat nite races.

If there is a major short track anywhere in country I would NOT stay home for ANY Napcar race there including daytona; T-Dega; any other nascar track period !!

I agree my schedule is pretty full of multi day sprint races and the weekends that there are no sprints I have the speedway motorcycle races and the Nhra finals. and I still wish Lucas oil and Stewart would take control of irwindale speedway and put clay on it .
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

You put it perfectly. WE (well maybe not Mr. T.O. Newleaf) wouldn't pass up a sprint car race for NASCAR on TV, but there are many average fans that do.

I know promoters that can tell you almost exactly how many admissions a NASCAR night race will cost him. If I remember right the tracks I used to work would be down somewhere between 15% and 25%, but the promoter I worked for would state the # of admissions he figures NASCAR cost him.

first off i would'nt walk across the street to watch a nascar race if it was free, but on nights where the outlaws are running in an area where nascar is as well, how many nascar fans do tony stewart and kahne draw to the dirt tracks when they run? just curious, i'm sure there has to be a few.

I'll DVR a cup race if I feel I'm in need of a nap...
Opinions may vary...

You guys have it wrong. Lol. There are NASCAR fans and there are.... dirt track fans(us).
We have to get those other fans to experience real racing. Period. Then the dirt tracks are
Gonna be able to buy grand stands from NASCAR tracks to put at

Then of course there are race fans period, and a lot of us are just that with a big preference for open wheels on dirt. The trouble with NASCAR is that it's not racing anymore. It's turned into something like a pro basketball game where you only have to watch the last few minutes to see who won, and if there will be any racing at all.
I went to my first Grand National race in 63 at Riverside raceway, and as more than a few of you remember there was more than a few open wheel boy's out there giving them Southern boy's all they wanted, and more. Remember both Foyt and Andretti won the Daytona 500... It's just to bad, and maybe a little sad too, seeing what the've done to that form of racing.
Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

Personally I would not look out my back door to watch NASCAR. Just endless circling. May be of some interest if the races were 75 miles instead of 500.

Those are aliens from outer space. A real race fan wouldn't skip a local dirt race to watch NASCAR on TV. Maybe that boogity, boogity crap means something in their language.
