Earlier post on this subject. These single day Outlaw shows at Knoxville have kept me away. I've been going to the Nationals for 16 strait years, and have wanted to go out for a WoO weekend for a long time. Finally would have had some time this year, however 600 miles is to far for a single day show. I would fly, not drive, however that is an expensive night of racing, flight and motel, at least 350, plus ticket and food, well over $400. Had they had the traditional two day shows they would have had me for at least one of those weekends. How many others are there like me out there? Not going out to watch Late Models one night and sprints the next, to much good racing around home, I'll wait for the Nationals.

Same here.Knoxville is a 5 hour drive 1 way for me.

Allways looked forward to the 2 day Outlaw shows and use them as a mini-vacation,with my kids and other relatives.

Drive down and see them friday, spend the night in either newton or indianola, trip up to des moines or pella saturday afternoon, then races on saturday night, another night in the hotel then drive home sunday before going to husets

As much as i love going to knoxville, its just not worth going for a 1 day show, worst case is if there is bad weather and its a rain out. In the past there was allways that extra day.and its a little easier to handle if 2 days get rained out, instead of having a one time shot.

The latemodel show was better than the sprint car show.

Slick to the fence Late Model racing on Friday seems to have led to a rubber down Saturday track for sprints. Does anyone else see such a correllation?

That's exactly what I predicted on the way up to the races John.

The last few late models shows have been better than the sprints.

I thought it was a great feature race. 3 abreast with 8 or 9 to go for the lead. If you don't like that, then how about Joey 24th to 6th with a broken header? What more do you people want? The latemodel race was not that great and even if it was only a 1000 people saw it. I would like to thank Knoxville for redoing the racetrack! It was the smartest thing I have seen them do in a long time.

I'm six hours away and we don't come down for the single day shows . Really miss the two day deal.

Nice try at making the track better, it was better than nothing and it did somewhat help. IMHO you can't start hot lapping around 86 sprint cars on a track at 5:45 p.m. (sun time) on a 92 degree cloud less day that is within 6 days of the longest day of the year and not expect rubber down. I would be fine with an announced weather delay (sun) just like a rain delay. With the internet and the media power Knoxville has, a 1 hour announced delay on the day of a race (say by 1 o'clock) makes more sense than reworking the track while we set in the stands till 10 p.m. twiddling our thumbs, the track was better .... and obviously a car from 24th to 6th shows it was much racier than the B main.

While I'm glad they took the time to partially re-work the track, there is no excuse for how awful the track was from the start. If it lays rubber come feature-time, at least the heats are usually racy. The bottom groove was MIA after hot laps (hot laps!). When Saldana almost spun out trying to hit the low side of turn one in qualifying (he came out EARLY too), they should've thrown the red flag. I could care less about the late models, but care a lot about the 8 out of 10 days of racing on this track surface in August...

That's good to hear Donn. I'm thinking about making the trip in September for three nights of Late Model racing. LOL, what's this world coming to when my only Knoxville trip of 2007 will be the first time I wouldn't be going to see Sprints. Don't tell the guys on 20/20 because I'd never live it down.
